I made the point that others have on here about Finley looking like a young J. Russel while talking to my dad. . However, my dad had a good point. Said he reminds him of big Ben Roethlisberger. A big guy, with a strong and accurate arm, but not very mobile. More I thought about it, the more I agree. He does have a Big Ben look to him.
Btw, not comparing them numbers wise....has a ways to go before he gets that ACTUAL on the field comparison.

He may not be a triple option threat, but he's not a statue either

Reminded me of Rohan...effortless flick of the wrist. Not fleet of foot, but good pocket presence.

Ro vs. Bama

He’s very similar to Jamarcus. Same size and the ball jumps out of his hand. Neither were statues, but not exactly running threats either.

He is a mix between Russell and Ro. Arm not as big as Russell but gets it out quick and isn’t totally a statute like RO.

TJ has way, way more arm talent. I know that's not a requirement or sufficient to make him an nfl player. But there's definitely not much similarity on that variable.

I believe that was by design. Limited plays and to keep a freshman from being overwhelmed, look for a primary receiver, make a decision, and if he's not open find the dump off outlet. Just don't hold onto the ball.

They gave him quick hitting plays and single reads. They also protected well. Everyone is talking QBs, but the difference was the offensive line. They dominated USCe. Everything works when the line is dominant.

He is going to be his own guy. We tend to compare people only to other LSU guys. The important thing is he looks really good

Excellent point. Finley appears to see defense quicker and release much quicker than Brennan.

That performance by Finley was better than a majority of JR’s games. Certainly better than his Freshman year games.

Russ was a strong qb that won a ton of games, but by the numbers, not outstanding for the number of games he played.

JR only threw for more yards than Finley did 4 times in his career. He did not eclipse 151 yards passing as a freshman. His only game close to as statistically good as Finley’s outing in his first 2 years was against Vandy where he threw for 285 yards on 63.6% completion.

I said he looks like JR with touch. If anybody remembers JR, esp Fresh/Soph JR, 40yd go route- 80mph, quick slant - 80mph. Dude threw everything on a frozen rope lol. Guessing TJ is probably literate as well

He got the ball out quickly because that’s how the plays were designed. Quick easy read and out. That’s not your typical play call with Brennan taking the snap.

You guys need to keep in mind that Brennan let's go of the ball after going through multiple progressions. I liked watching Finley and I think the future is bright for him but he was staring down receivers and had a very calculated set of plays. The offensive line played very well and the running game was doing great work. Brennan has not had the same level of rushing success.

TJ is a GREAT interviewee also. Sounds very knowledgeable about Ensminger's schemes.

That ball on the slant coming his way (forget to whom) was a stellar throw. Super impressed with the freshman.
