Reading between the lines, there has not been a search going on in any official capacity.
Verge basically admits as much.
I’m sure Verge has talked to several agents that have called him.
Any sources saying anything are, and likely will continue to be, full of it.

At most, I think they have a list and have gauged preliminary interest, but nothing beyond that.

This isn’t the “AD” who has a list of names in the drawer for when this inevitability occurs.
This is Verge Ausberry. This is going to take a while. I don’t think we’ve even started. And I certainly don’t think we are anywhere near focused in on a specific candidate.
