I honestly don't feel he has that strong of a Cajun accent as well. Very distinct voice but it's not what I would call "Cajun". But then again most of the rest of the country think we all talk like ole boy from Joe Dirt and the water boy so I can see why they believe it's "Cajun".

Coach O clearly tries to mask his Cajun accent when he speaks publicly. What you are hearing is his best attempt at that. I do it too. Give him a beer and have a private conversation with him and only a Fellow cajun would understand him.

One problem in comparing Miles and O is that Miles intentionally spoke in vague terms about current football matters. You could hear what he was saying but not discern the meaning.
with Da Coach O, I often cannot tell what words are coming out of his mouth.

Pierre part (hello Troy Landry), Lockport, Raceland, Galliano, Larose, cutoff, golden meadow to grand isle. These are the places that have that flat accent that people consider "Cajun". Lived and worked these areas my whole life. Coach o falls in that category. It doesn't get more Cajun than that. Now calm down and listen to Cajun Star Trek ya bunch a coullions. My wife and BIL (neither from Louisiana) can't understand a word he says. It's not that his voice is deep, it's "gravelly", like the cookie monster. Couple that with a thick S.La. accent, and it's tough for those not from S.La. to understand him.

He sounds like he smokes tobacco through a furnace

1. He doesn't have Cajun accent, and the people that think that are not from here.
2. Hebert and Detillier do have Cajun accents, but both of them are immensely more understandable than O. O has Grade 3 marble mouth with a solid helping of cotton.
3. Nobody thinks deep voice = Cajun and I don't know where you got that from.
True all dat - I don't even detect a hint of cajun accent - just low and gravelly
