Coach O: Do I have rose colored glasses?

As I see it Coach O and his staff has improved on the following things compared to the Les Miles era:
- Time management. Not nearly as many blunders, delays of game, poor timeouts, etc.
- Half time adjustments are better. I think we are a better second half team than under Les Miles. Both offensively and defensively. (Perhaps this is an illusion, because I think we start more slowly than we did under Les.)
- I think Coach O puts the best players on the field. Les seemed to have favorites.
- The team improves as the season progresses. I can't say that about Miles coached teams, at least after the Alabama game. Under Les we seemed to regress post Bama. Even in 2011 we got worse following the Bama game - struggled with Arkansas and Georgia.
- Penalties. We started poorly this year, but then we corrected and the number of penalties per game really dropped. Coach O was able to correct whatever the issue was. Not sure Miles ever did.
- Kickoff coverage and strategy is improved.
- Band performance at half time is much improved.
What is worse:
- Field goal kicking. Maybe punting.
- Slower starts offensively (and defensively).
- Concessions.

Coach O is now the fourth best head coach in the West- optimistically speaking.
We don't know who Arky will get and the guy at Miss State certainly has a better resume' coming in than O had.
Like him or not we are no longer allowed to compare him to Les we have to compare him to his peers and right now, he has some skins to hang in order to catch up

Couldn't agree more on halftime adjustments. Drove me crazy at times with Miles, but O's teams seem to adjust excellently at half.

quote:look here Ban bet loser alter, the adjustments you are talking about zeroes in on Offense which is what got Miles run. Make no mistake that O has zero to do with adjustments by his own admission ie not sticking his nose in the offense after getting bitch slapped by Alleva.

With that said, what makes you think anything changed since Miles?
The record? Wrong? The teams on the 2017 outside of Bama and AU were pure garbage including State which eventually showed its true colors.
He didn’t adjust to Troy did he?
So that’s a major failure to me.
Now leave.

rank and record?
These don’t mean anything to O supporters. Numbers are hard. What matters is the eye test, football and yaw yaw!

9-3. Ranked 16. Citrus Bowl. Miles and O are the same. All the rest just gives you warm fuzzies.

Troy. Chicken on a stick. Hope and pray.

I'm scared of what this board is going to look like next fall. A brutal schedule, a young team, a new starting QB with virtually no meaningful experience, and potentially an entirely new offensive system. It's going to be a difficult year.

Sounds like every year.

We always have one of these. Apparently no one else ever does.

Does he? Lately he’s been putting in WR Justin Jefferson over Drake Davis, Dee Anderson, Stephan Sullivan, and even Jacoby Stevens who switched to WR. I can’t imagine that Jefferson is better than any of the aforementioned players.

Good coordinators left alone tend to do this.

Did you totally skip over the 1st post in this thread? You need someone to spell it out to you very slowly or something?

Best SEC record since 2012. Seems like you are WRONG.

Don't watch LSU games? If you did you would know that LSU scored every one of its points in the 2nd half. Aranda couldn't stop Troy in that game.

Not surprising for someone who apparently doesn't even watch the games.

I'd actually prefer the guy stay and you leave. At least he knows a little about LSU football and can recognize the improvements that have occurred in spite of playing well over 30 true and RS freshmen.

Clemson has six scholarship seniors this year and replaced a three and a half year starter at QB. The young team excuse doesn’t fly anymore.

Still vast improvement in this department. LSU did not lose one game this year because of clock mis-management unlike in the past. Ole Miss in the past and Auburn last season still have me shaking my head.
