This is getting political, but this kind of thinking just pisses me off. I think sky diving is scary and dangerous (and I even have the facts to back it up) but I don't try to make it illegal or "safer". I just don't go sky diving. If you think pitching a baseball to a hitter with a metal bat is too scary and dangerous then don't do it, let your kids do it, or pay to watch it. But you don't need to make the all of society conform to your view of right/wrong or safe/dangerous. Injuries are going to happen in sports. Yes, you need to keep sports reasonably safe, but college baseball already was. It's definitely a lot safer than college football. You could justify a lot of silly things under the guise of "safety".

Seriously, you have not been correct about a single claim you've made in this thread.

"Don't sweat all this, your kids will be queer and won't even play."
Lol, says the fig who can't handle 10 years olds hitting balls at him. What a douche. Let me guess your still bitter from getting cut from the JV high school team. That's the whole reason your against the bats, you can't handle the heat from a bunch of 75 lb boys. Lol, what a loser.

Wait, I think I know the answer to this. It probably has something to do with his position being located 60 feet from the batter (regardless of what kind of bat he has in his hands) as opposed to the right fielder who is like 275 feet away. You dumbass.

you should try throwing BP just to 11 year olds these days. The ball comes off the bat like a missile with those bats that have a trampoline effect. Without a doubt, the bats need to be taken down a notch.
Are you the coach or do you just throw BP to random 11 year olds? If you're the coach why on earth are you allowing them to use these dangerous weapons? There are plenty of cheap youth bats out there that don't perform the way you just mentioned.

Baseball needs to be played with wooden bats, period!

One of the issues I see is a complete lack of fundamentals by pitchers at all levels. When I was taught to pitch, I was taught to finish my delivery by having my body square to home plate and ready to receive a hit. Essentially, I was required to be in a shortstop ready position after every pitch.
Most pitchers do not finish the delivery movement and prepare themselves to receive a ball from the bat. There are guys standing upright with their backs turned, sideways, and several other vulnerable positions.
The injuries are few and far between and could be less if pitchers would prepare themselves to receive a hit.

Because only the money making programs could afford to do that, I predict we would then see the NCAA forbid wood bats in its never ending efforts to enforce equality among baseball programs.

Russian is correct, wooden bats would also end up being regulated, Bertman used to say this all the time. Programs like LSU would get the best bats on the market while crappy northern programs couldn't afford it, so then they would whine even more about a competitive advantage.
Getting metal bats to perform like wooden bats is a nice goal, but from much of the feedback I've read these new bats are actually worse than that.
