We don’t have a lot of good defensive guys. Not compared to past good LSU teams.

Teams are usually judged by their up the middle defense. Our top catcher is hurt, our IFers are not plus guys and out CFer is not in the Stevenson/Mahtook class.

But we are blowing a lot of routine plays. I think some of that is a lack of focus.

Jay Johnson is known as a defensive coach' specifically when it comes to the IF. I'm not sure what the issues are, but we had some of the same issues last year. I'm hoping g he can diagnose it and have it figured out soon.

Defense is likely what was emphasized least coming into the season. Johnson is primarily an offensive guy. I feel like they prob work on defense more now that they’ve seen how costly it is.

They have so much to work on, offense, defense, pitching, etc. You see flashes in each area but they just haven’t put it all together. I believe they will, though.

I wish Jay would chill out with all the wacky subs and weird pitching changes. It’s gotta be hard for guys to get in a groove with so many moving parts.

It's not like he can design and/or call different plays as though he was a defensive coordinator. You can't scheme your way out of lack of talent in baseball. If a guy isn't a good fielder then he's not going to get much better this season from coaching. If any

If he’s considered a defensive coach then we’re fricked. Go look at his past teams and tell me he’s a defensive coach.
