I understand Leonard's reasoning with his injury but this is crap.

Further proof that the playoff is going to ruin football. Nothing but the playoffs matter.

Total bitch move. Leonard has legitimate reason. Sitting out to get ready for the draft is quitting on your team. I don't care that it's a "meaningless" bowl game. By that logic, as soon as you are eliminated from playoff contention players with draft potential should just sit out and prep for the draft.

That's chickenshit. I think Leonard wanted to play in the bowl game and absolutely would have if not for his ankle. Apples and oranges comparison. Low character move by McCaffery as far as I'm concerned.

He's trying to lock up the Ben Simmons award.

He probably wants to leave school and train with a pro combine trainer. Its a pretty selfish move but one we will start seeing more and more often. Fans just need to get used to the fact that CFB is becoming more and more of a business.

Huge difference here. He is healthy and it's a sellout move.

Good business decision but you hate to see this become a trend.

People are bashing these young men need to chill out. Does everyone remember what happened to Jaylon Smith LB from Notre Dame? He was supposedly a lock top 5 pick. He got injuried in bowl game and may never be the same player. These young men are trying to get the that Dream, they been thinking about since being a kid. I wish nothing but the best for them and hope they both have great NFL careers.

I guess I have "low character" because I see nothing wrong with this

Does it suck on a selfish level as a fan that this is probably going to become more common? Sure it does. But I don't blame them one bit.

It is the smart thing to do. It just is.

Fournette is doing the exact same thing and everyone on here is bashing McCaffery but giving Fournette a pass.

So you prefer the shite-show the BCS was every year? There's an argument to be made that the Playoff improves competition because winning/losing still control your future, only now you have 4 of the best teams in the country competing for a title rather than a computer selecting 2 teams. It'll end up being 8 before it's all said and done.

Remember, college football is still a business. Businesses like money and fans like competitive football. The Playoff is the best thing that could've happened for both.

From Bruce Feldman

"Got a text from a coach. "If some coaches can skip bowls to get ready for their next job, how can anyone fault Fournette or McCaffrey??"

Fournette at least has the injury excuse to hang on
