Even if its 2016, I look forward to listen to LSU football on the radio again.

I like it. Sounds smooth and professional! Great radio voice and he seems like a hard worker/contributer behind the scenes.

Anyone got a link to one of his baseball calls?

No. Larry Munson was from Minnesota and was about as far removed from southern manners as you can get. Keith Jackson is close to God among USC fans, and he was a Georgia native who was southern through and through.
Top drawer college play by play gigs require finding the talent and bringing it to your fans, not sticking a mic in front of a homer you found south of campus
Very well stated. I am on board. Welcome, Chris Blair to the biggest sports circus on the planet.....LSU Athletics.

Don't like the "put an Eagles six on it". That has to be dropped

I just heard his audition tape when Ga. Southern beat Fla. in the Swamp. The highlight is the last play of the game where he yells "Catch is made, incomplete". If Hawthorne had said this some of you guys would have been all over him. But anyway, he sounds good and we should be able to get used to him. Welcome aboard.

So we hired someone who knows nothing about the history of LSU.

Yeah, I don't like it either. Hopefully he'll find a new line for our Tigers. Definitely don't want to hear, "Put a Tiger six on it." But I like his voice and think he'll be fine as long as he finds a new catch phrase for LSU. I'll miss Jim's, "Holy Cow!" though.

I really like him. He's plugged into the game. You can visualize the game taking place.

Love his basketball & baseball calls

So PJ would have been a better hire?
j/k but seriously, I'm sure he will educate himself and quickly be able to articulate like a true ranter.

I wager he comes up with something completely different, and fitting... if not I will be disappoint.

Very pleased.
LSU is a national brand and the "redneck accent" did not help at all.
And thank god Lynn Rollins was not chosen!

There was a time when I didn't know about the history, but I learned about it as I fell in love with LSU. There was a time when you had to learn about it too. A lot of people that move to Louisiana become fans because this is a special town when it comes to LSU. Calling games well is a skill, and maybe they just didn't have a homer that fit the bill they wanted.

I like the fact that he is a Southerner, but at least Hawthorne had Louisiana ties and local sports experience (Centenary). I kind of view this guy as an "outsider" in some respects.
Does anyone else feel that way?
