Game winning sacrifice fly just now in the baseball game and he sounded like it was the 4th inning of a 12-0 blowout. This guy has no enthusiasm for the moment. Can’t believe I’m saying it but I miss Hawthorne!

Doesn’t matter. Still a game winning hit and he sounded like he was at a funeral

Dont you ever say that. Jim only got excited on those plays because it meant the game ended and he could go home and sing country music while looking at pictures of second sackers

But but but Hawthorn was too much of a fan and got too emotional! And messed up sometimes and had to go!

Hawthorne is 100x better. It really isn't even close. Hawthorne had plenty of screw ups, but you knew when the Tigers were doing well and you knew when opponent was.

Chris Blair is about as exciting as a nursing home.

I like Chris Blair but that was a very ho hum call. He is not always like that. Hawthorne would have been all over that one though.

Are they calling from the press box?

The basketball games he and John Brady are calling from a room in the athletic building while watching on tv. And that’s hard to do.

JH had great emotion behind it, but he was HORRIBLE calling an actual game. I can't count the number of times he ramped up a HR call only to be snagged by the SS.

As much shite as he gets, I always liked Hanny as a baseball guy.

With no play at the plate. That was as anti-climatic as a walkoff could get.

That’s what we get for hiring a non LSU fan. No energy at all in the booth. The guy thinks he’s so cool too. He wants to fit in so bad with Tiger Nation. Idk maybe it’s just me missing Jim Hawthorn. He was a legend, and will always be the voice of the tigers for me

This ^

What do you want? Him to scream “Tigers Win, Tigers Win” like it’s the Warren Morris walk-off?

regardless of how crotchety he got in his later years and his propensity for not knowing the rules or being able to follow plays all the time, his big calls were some of the best in the business. I think the issue with Blair is he isn't a true LSU fan, so his enthusiasm always sounds forced and fake to me.

I like Chris as a person but I need more passion. Also Doug Thompson calling for a HR EVERY at bat is annoying

not sure he gets a lot of shite as far as his color commentary role was concerned. His knowledge of the sport and the history of the team was unmatched by anyone I've ever heard. Dude was an encyclopedia of LSU baseball. He was boring AF, though, when he took over PBP in the middle innings. Didn't have a great voice for it either.
