We're not? We're like 5th in average player rating right now.
This is a high quality class the staff is putting together.
But I guess you'd rather we have 15 commitments with a bunch of class fillers just so the class ranking would be in the top 10. I bet you wouldn't have to add many random 3* guys to the class to get us in the top 10.

Only 6 teams have more 4-star or better recruits committed than LSU in the 247 composite. Would you really prefer LSU to be loaded up with 3-stars like most of the teams currently ahead of them? Those kinds of players will be readily available if necessary to fill out the class later.
