I've seen it written. I've heard it said.
Is it true?
And if it is, do other fields smell of a particular alcohol?

If you have your flask open when you are down there you can.

You can smell bourbon just like it never rains.

1. I throw piss balloons
2. My Piss is mostly bourbon
Therefore, it seems plausible

I may be wrong but I think Mike Archer said it describing the difference between a day game and a night game in Tiger Stadium.

I will tell you this. At its peak, there is no more interactive and rowdy fan base compared to any other stadium or arena at its peak. People from Louisiana love to be loud and hoot and hollar. It's just in the culture. That's part of what makes it so intimidating. There's just always someone right in your ear letting you know they are there.

Well I'm old.
In the days of yonder, you could indeed smell bourbon on the field at Tiger Stadium before during and a little after the game. As a kid, I was lucky enough to have gotten to sell cokes in the stands and you got certain perks for doing so.
I've smelt it.
Nowadays, I doubt it. Not gonna get into the whole crowd isn't as loud thing. It's really more about society.
In those times, it was a bourbon kinda crowd. Everyone had a flask. It's not like that anymore.

The Ole Miss game doesn't kickoff until 8:15, so that's going to be a long day of drinking, eating and sweating for several thousands of people.
That would be as a good a night as any for someone to test the theory.

On a chilly night in October while on an unofficial visit, I was a recruit on the field and smelled bourbon for the first time.
It is true. Well, was in the 80s

Was on the field dozens of times with Tiger Band. The only smell I remember is the grass. I don't recall that particular smell at any other field (SEC or otherwise). Maybe Les was right...the TS grass is special.

If a breeze sweeps the crowd and you’re standing on the sidelines, you can smell it. Not from the field though.

Indeed you can. In 1995, when Troy Twillie caught the INT to seal the win against Auburn, The wave of bourboun that swept the field from the north endzone was undeniable.

I've never been allowed to go sniff the field in TS. I bet Les knows if it smells like bourbon.

The one time I walked onto the field during a game in the early 00's it hit me like a brick wall

In the old days when everyone drank bourbon, yes.
