Can we stop with “The defense is on the field all game because of the LSU offense” excuse?

I will just keep with the position of, unless and until we lose a game, I don’t really need an “excuse” for anything. Seems to be working so for. Holler at me should anything change.

But do they take plays off because they know our offense can come back and score again?

Two things:

* This defense has legitimate issues. Anyone suggesting it doesn't and that the stats we are giving up are related solely to the offense is wrong.

* Time of possession doesn't really tell the story. It's number of plays. It's a real thing that defenses will wilt if they play too many plays. And, our offense does lend itself to that happening. This would result in our defense being unable to stop teams late in the game and giving up chunk yards during that time.

But this season number of plays is more of a reflection of the D not getting stops than it is the offense scoring too fast.

This defense gives up chunk plays early in games & late in games. It doesn't matter the point of the game with this defense. The big plays are the problem with this defense & it seems to be a different issue with each opponent.

In the Texas, Florida & Alabama game it was pass defense (secondary) where the chunk yardage & big plays were given up. Against Vanderbilt, Auburn & Ole Miss it was big runs that hurt the defense.

Mississippi State was easily the best defensive performance of this season. State has no passing attack but they can pound the rock & the defense shut them down.

Bama was able to throw the ball in the second half but it was their run game that opened up the pass game for them. It wasn't until Harris got going that their passing game started clicking.

Honestly, the run defense struggles can be pinpointed directly to players failing to maintain their assignments. You don't give up huge runs just on missed tackles alone. Missed tackles are also a direct result of being late or out of position in run fits. Devin White was right when he tweeted out about the LBs needing to work harder in the film room when that practice video of a run from Emery got leaked.

The plays in general are up with the scoring we are doing and tempo. With so many passes, there are more plays per game. I 100% agree that this defense needs a ton of improvement and am upset with the performance. But the amount of plays we have on defense is a legit talking point. Running a 3/4 with huge dline might not be the best strategy honestly. Seems like even in our poor defensive performances we are decent in the first half.

Ole Miss first w TDS if second half were 2 plays each. Their third TD was 1 play. Their last TD “drivel was 75 yards in less than 2 minutes. The D must have been really playing so many snaps,

You are retarded. I literally said that this team has legitimate issues unrelated to the offense.

Are you truly unable to read?

Look. Our defense is the worst in years. Aranda isn't getting it done. How could any rational football fan question that?

Can we also stop with the:

“The defense sucks” take? Because no one thinks they’re elite but it’s laughable if some fans can’t understand a game like last night.

Another myth. We are averaging one less play this year than last year on Defense. We are giving up something like 1.3 more yds per play though.

It seems as if the defense is much more dominant in the first half which could indicate the fast offense is contributing to their exhaustion.
Or it could be the opposition is making adjustments at half time.
