Can somebody intelligently explain what the pre-snap motion is supposed to accomplish
I honestly don’t know. I get bringing a WR or TE in motion to help your QB get a read on the defense, but what’s the point of flipping tackles? Teams know that Canada will do that and will plan accordingly. It’s not like it’s confusing the defense.

So, other than wear out our OL and get them out of position, what does it accomplish?

It's pointless. If anything it tires out the offensive players from running back and forth so much. Why do receivers go in motion and then turn around and go back where they came from?

It's not creating confusion or mismatches. It's pointless.

Totally agree, all of that motion is bullshitee. It's supposed to help the QB read the defense. Our line is so average that it makes no difference. I have no problem with jet sweeps but all that other stuff is garbage.

I just don't understand why we're not blocking better. Oh, yes I do it's Grimes.

It's an attempt to get the defense to show their hand and to get more LSU players on the side of the field that they intend to run the play to than the defense has. It's all about numbers and leverage and creating mismatches. Canada wants to get LSU's best players to be defended by the defense's weakest players.

Yup. When half the opposing team's defensive line is in the backfield immediately after the snap anyway it doesn't matter.

I really liked that one we moved every receiver and te to the short side and ran for no gain. Was fricking brilliant.

It's supposed to help the QB see what the defense is doing based on how they adjust.

I know it puts a lot more wear and tear on their legs as the season goes on.

There was a play where I lost track of how many times the receiver was in motion behind Etling. I think it was 4 times.

That's tough when it looks like many of our players wouldn't be good enough to start at Syracuse

isn't that what a "creative" offense does?

I can. Whether you do anything with the motion or not, coaches still have to prepare for it. No good defensive coach would just ignore all of the pre snap motions. Especially when you do overloads. If the lines don't shift They are at a disadvantage.its giving them a lot of stuff to prepare for. And it helps to throw the tendencies out the window . As the year progresses you will see this get more complex. Eventually it will catch the defense in the wrong adjustment

Jesus Christ. If you have no fricking clue what you are talking about, it is better to remain silent.

But they don't adjust because they are beating us one on one and it it's not about the X's and O's its about the T-Bob's and Joe's.

Line needs to focus on reads and blocking instead of having this pre-motion variable to be thinking about not fricking up too.
