Good post. Mostly agree. Especially on the coaching, the scheme, and the freshmen QBs ability to recognize. Also, agree there is talent on the Oline. It is the wrong kind of talent for what we want to do now. This Oline is better suited for a Les Miles type offense and that is not what we are any more. That time has come and gone. Deculus and Hines would be studs in our old offense.

It feels like a recent problem and a numbers problem. We have a history of some pretty good Olines for the offenses Saban and Miles put on the field. We were a good enough smash mouth team that could run on most defenses. Except against a Saban led Bama. Oline was a strength many of those years.
Currently, we haven't adjusted to our recent offensive scheme change. Joe and Brady clouded that last year. We still have too many guard type players on the line. Deculus would be one heck of a guard.
The numbers issue is that for the past 4 or 5 years, we aren't signing enough Oline guys. This part really baffles me since it is a position that has a lot of failures.

Georgia has commits from 4 of ESPN 300 and they all rank in top 100 ...1 is top 20 the other top 30 and 2 others top 100..we need to be better than Georgia ...never mind that Bama has 2 that are top 20

Yikes, I've never actually looked through the recent classes. There's only one 4* offensive lineman out of Louisiana every year going back the past few years.

No argument that other schools are out recruiting us on Oline. It is a much bigger problem recently as compared to our past.

Is there any chance that Andrew Whitworth could return to his alma mater to work with the OL when he retires from the NFL.
Rob Sale is at Southwest Louisiana Junior College at Louisville. (And they're actually ranked in the Top 25 while LSU isn't. )

Set up recruiting offices in Kansas and Nebraska. Corn-fed big boy talent up there.
