I get it’s 7-1 late in the game, but he had absolutely no chance of scoring there.

That’s really what it is. They’re playing the odds that the relay will get messed up or one of the players will fold.

With a perfect relay, you are correct. It was the correct send there, given the situation. If there wasn't 2 outs, it's a terrible send, but that wasn't the case.

It was a good send there with 2 outs. Probability is in your favor. Make THEM make a play.
