Great for them, but it’s pretty clear we’ve crossed the Rubicon regarding a level(ish) playing field.
This is pretty much just Blue Chips now.

This is Bear Bryant territory. Offering "scholarships" to every potential quarterback in the country to make sure Alabama was the only team in the country with a decent quarterback. I am not against it because I think even walkons deserve some kind of compensation for their time, but LSU needs to be prepared.

BYU could (apparently is) benefit tremendously from NIL.

I thought this was about the restaurant at first and was wondering why the cares so much about BYU

Who needs scholarship limits when your boosters can just foot the tuition bills?
I wonder what's going to happen, though, when these walk-on kids realize they have to pay taxes on that $40,000 income every year?

I have said this for a while. Gonna be some busy IRS people in the near future.

They’re gonna pay their taxes. Just like everyone else.
I know, it’s crazy.

I've thought from the beginning this is the best way to maximize the use of the NIL rules in recruiting.
Get your "walk on", who happens to be a 4*, a NIL deal that pays more than the value of a scholarship... times 4.
25 limit would no longer be a problem.

Yep Toto I have a feeling we are not in Kansas anymore. Neither is Les Miles but I digress ...

My point was that scholarship limits are now irrelevant.
So we should try to find a good QB in the transfer portal that wants to come in as a walk-on.

Definitely caught everyone's attention and this is where we're headed for sure.

Matt Flynn needs to step up his game!!!
Shaq is a master in marketing. Hell, he would look like a nascar driver if he wore patches for all the brands that he represents.
I say hire Shaq (and his people) as a consultant for the NIL department

They could literally gross up the payment so the taxes are also covered. People acting like there aren’t easy solutions around it.

The line between "scholarship athlete" and "walk-on" just got blurred... Recruits not gonna care so much whether they're getting the scholarship, if they're getting the gouda.

taxes
The takes on taxes is so stupid. Like if I win Powerball, I'm not gonna take it because I gotta pay taxes stupid.
