Probably won't ever see that again especially against SEC level competition.
That's WAC numbers back in the day.

The school career record was 69 by a 4 year starter

ESPN posted a stat yesterday that the % of passes on 1st down was the highest since ......2009.

Did we really have a higher 1st down passing % in 2009? Seems to me that was the year Miles went into “run, run, pass, punt” mode after the pick 6 fiascos in 2008. Am I remembering wrong?

How many more titles could we have played for if Miles simply opened up the offense? This is coming from someone who backed him repeatedly when others consistently bashed him. With the defenses Miles always fielded, we didn't need 60 TD passes, 30-35 would have been plenty enough but the man just refused to evolve with the times.

Did we throw that many touchdowns in the decade of the 50’s ? And other decades?

If you'd have told me in the mid 90s when I was at LSU that I'd see LSU win 3 nattys I'd have told you that you were smoking crack

Without a doubt, Miles squandered a lot of talent with his stubbornness. I think it's safe to say that over the years he cost LSU at least one shot at a natty. Looking back, it's pitiful and frustrating how many elite offensive talents were wasted at LSU, especially at the WR position

Two observations from 2009 as an AU fan:
Saban will win at least 4 NC at AL while he is there.
There is no reason that LSU shouldn't finish in the top 10 every year.

frustrating

That's probably the perfect word to use. I hate to pile on the man because he did a lot of great things at LSU & obviously still loves the university (his Tweet last night was very classy) but his offenses were frustrating to watch plus it's frustrating pondering what could have been.

And keep in mind - this was against some of the toughest competition in the country. Arguably the toughest schedule, and win % of opponents is something like 60-65%, even higher if you exclude the cupcakes. NOBODY has ever offensivelu dominated CFB the way LSU did this year.

Mahommes had 50 TD passes this year playing one more game than Burrow. Mahommes is the NFL MVP.

Of course the offense under Miles was horrible and frustrating but It’s not that simple, remember the division we are in and who was playing for most of those titles. 2009 Florida was a pretty “open” offense and Saban held them to 13. We probably win some more games, like Wisconsin in GB, a couple of OM Ark type games. The only one could have been 2012, a smarter aggressive plan could have won that Bama game

Yeah, spread offenses have evolved since 2011. Back then Bama and some of the top flight defenses (including LSU) were able to grind those offenses down, so Miles and other coaches still believed in the ground-and-pound and play defense approach. It worked a lot too until that 2011 CFP broke the program's back. These days top flight spread attacks are so nuanced and basically impossible to completely shut down that you just can't win much without a really good offense.

LSU should have won in 2012, 2014, 2015 & 2016 if we had any resemblance of a passing game.

Mett was on fire in the 2nd half of the 2012 game. Miles should have gone for it on 4th & inches on the second to last possession instead attempting a long FG.

2014 Anthony Jennings was awful all game long but Miles conservative play calling after that late Bama fumble allowed Bama a chance to force OT. Miles didn't have the balls to go for the kill shot while putting too much faith in his defense to hold at the end.

2015 Miles kept running Fournette into loaded fronts. The offense never got going & left the defense out to dry. The final was 30-16 but that's after Bama walked away in the 2nd half by pounding Derrick Henry against a gassed LSU defense.

2016 was a 10-0 final. While that was Coach O's interim season, we were still running Miles offense.

Change those wins to Tiger wins & the entire college football playoff picture changes those seasons.

True dat - I always loved Miles as a man - but could never understand the predictability of his offenses.
