Bryce Jordan does NOT have a tear.

James Moran
@SmartestMoran
News: Bryce Jordan’s knee injury isn’t as severe as Paul Mainieri initially fears. Sounds like it’s just a bad bone bruise and no tear. Far better news than the alternative.
So Bryce Jordan isn’t out for the year. Doubtful he’ll play at all this week, but it could’ve been much worse, obviously.
Also dropped this nugget:
Paul hinted that the #LSU staff is “talking about” changes to the weekend rotation No announcement of any kind will be made until Thursday, but definitely a hmm moment
More injury notes:
- Josh Smith has been taking grounders at short and third base, should face live pitching this week
- Nick Storz feels better and will be re-evaluated today; may do some throwing
- Brandt Broussard should get split off surgically-repaired thumb soon

He was available Saturday and I saw him at practice today, so I think he is probably good to go. Worth keeping an eye on though.

Thanks for the update, great news indeed. I've gotta think it's a swap for Gilbert with Labas. I don't think the floor is any different between the two.
But the ceiling.... I think Gilbert will be lights out as a stopper. Let it rip mid 90s and bury the slider. No need to worry about a second or third time through the order. Fontenot, Beck, Bush, and Gilbert will be filthy.
I guess that would mean Sanders gets another crack at the midweek start.
I'm guessing if Labas goes 2 innings and gets pulled tomorrow, that is the call.

Caleb will always be remembered for doing God’s work and burying Oregon State’s program. College baseball is forever indebted to him.

I agree with you in that Gilbert’s better for this team in the bullpen. Hopefully one of Sanders or Labas gets the start.
We’ll know tomorrow

If Sanders can pitch like he did Friday, this is going to be a potent staff for the postseason. I don't expect him to always pitch that well, but if he can develop some consistency and we can get healthy, look out.

Do you slide Hilliard to Saturday and let Labas or Sanders start Sunday or do you keep Hilliard on Sunday?

Any news about re-hiring Javi?

I would slide Hillard but that’s just me

And I say you leave Hilliard right where he is where he's comfortable. But, that's obviously just an opinion.

A win is a win I think it’s more of Labas or Sanders being more comfortable on Sunday but we’re probably over analyzing.

Ha! LSU fans over analyze? Never.

My personal preference is to keep Hilliard on Sundays. If it is a rubber match he is clutch and gives you a great chance to win (with help from the bats, of course). But I'm just a guy watching from my couch. Either way he is our best pitcher right now, so as long as he is starting weekend games, I am happy.

You seem really sold on Sanders. I know he has shown flashes of dominance, but it seems like he just as easily falls into trouble with his control, much less command.
I'd love to see him put it all together for 5, 6 innings but I feel like he shows flashes of Mitch Mormann or Hunter Kiel.
Fun fact: Mormann is now the assistant head coach at South Dakota State after North Dakota axed their baseball program (its not pretty, his team is sporting a 6.00 ERA).
