Mark Richt consistently won 9 games at Georgia but always lost the big games. Georgia got tired of being mediocre and fired his arse and hired Kirby

Kelly is not the coach, nor the man Richt was.
But they have similar ceilings…

He also won the SEC in 2 of his first 5 years and finished in the top 10 in 6 of his first 8

LSU kept them from playing in the BCS title game in year 3

At least Rich had a few SEC titles to hand his hat on.

In the 2 seasons before Richt took over, UGA finished seasons ranked #16 (8-4 (5-3)) and #17 (8-4 (5-3)).

In the 2 seasons before Kelly took over, LSU finished seasons unranked (5-5 (5-5)) and unranked (6-7 (3-5)).

Man, BK wishes he was 4/5 of those.

3 have NCs, and the 4th has multiple SEC championships.

Unfortunately, I doubt he makes the 4th coach in a row to win a natty at LSU. Hopefully I'm wrong, but I don't think he wins a title.

He was Curly Hallman Saturday night and someone the other day said he was Charles McClendon.

Also before the SEC’s stretch of dominance. The last year before Richt took over, Florida was the only team in the conference that finished better than 8-4.

While watching the Alabama game I had the same thought. Richt would win just enough games to stay out of the heat, but could never take UGA to the next level, even thought he had a fertile recruiting ground. Sound familiar?
