I have been rewatching the national championships and I forgot BV was the DC with Stoops at OU for this game. He was young and spry.

He has lost two national championships against LSU at the Superdome. He has to hate us.

Another weird note- in the 2007 Natty, Bo and the TE coach’s got Gatorade baths. Leslie did not.

I’m sure that losing to LSU twice is the last thing he’s thinking about as he prepares for a 5th straight playoff appearance!

Venables was co DC with Mike Stoops, who didn’t coach the NC game because he’d accepted the Arizona head job

Correct, and his defense gave up only 14 points.

The other 7 came on a Marcus Spears pick-6.

That was the difference in the game.

Will never forget Stoops' half time interview. What a douche.

I’ll take #1 scoring defense over #1 total defense any day

Another weird note- they made Bob Stoops give an interview on the field immediately after the loss. Reporter said “better luck next year” lol

Oklahoma blocked a punt and had a 1 yard TD drive which is basically a defensive/special teams TD so it was really 14-7 LSU for real offensive scores.

Hasn’t anybody told him “If you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em?” He needs to come on down. Lol

reporter: "So how does it feel going up against this #1 defense?"

Stoops: "You mean the #1 SCORING defense!? WE have the #1 defense!"

Marcus Spears: "frick you Bobby!"
