Watford's recruiting ranking is very similar to what Naz's was last year. Both 5-stars with same .9936 247Sports composite. Both #4 rated PF in class. Watford #17 overall, Reid #18 overall.

Here's a breakdown on Watford's game by SI/Jeremy Woo:
quote:

Watford is a skilled forward who provides frontcourt versatility with his ability to handle, move the ball and knock down shots on the perimeter. Although he is not an exceptional leaper, he has good size and length for the position and has worked himself into improved shape over the course of his high school career. That being said, his defensive limitations will likely confine him to playing the four.

Dribble creation is not his strength, but he’s a capable face-up player who must continue to improve the consistency of his jumper to maximize his potential. Watford is not an obvious one-and-done candidate at this point, but with a good freshman year shooting the ball, it could be within reach. He has the polish and feel to be impactful right away.

Great pickup for the Tigers! Watford will definitely allow them to space out the floor

He looks like he moves OK for his size

He controls the ball better than Naz did, and to me that is a bigger key than what Naz brought to the table. Along with being able to stretch his game to the perimeter and a really good drive and kick game, He also dishes some sweet dimes which makes him even more valuable. Hes not a perfect player by far, but I think he is a perfect fit to this class and team! Great get

Looks like a SF to me. Reminds me of Josh Childress of Stanford

I am liking the idea of a Watford, Williams, and Days front court. Seems like Watford and Days would help spread the floor on offense. Watford seems like an upgrade to Naz as far as all handling and passing.

The down side is that Watford doesn’t appear as physically imposing as Naz but having 3 big bodies on the floor would help to mask not having 1 true rim protector big IMO.

I wouldn't call Naz a rim protector whatsoever.

KBW was the rim protector, but Naz was just huge. His impact was felt down low even if he wasn't a terrific post player.

If we played all3 at once would Days guard the 3 or would go to a zone to mask the deficiencies we’d have on D?

Naz was a turnover machine when he tried to dribble...not so with Watford....

Sounds a lot like P.J. Washington from Kentucky going by the description this guy is giving and that would be great for us.

Having not seen him play, I'll have to check some vids out. I'm excited and hope he is a better ball handler and dribbler than Naz. Sounds like he is and should be quicker to the basket.

I would assume he wouldn't do any post up. With our perimeter play, I wish we could have somebody post up and get the defense to collapse and kick it out.

Naz could certainly post up but he waited too long to make a move and then it was too late. Then when he decided to go and put the ball on the ground and bounce it off his foot. I enjoyed watching him post up though when he was successful.

More skilled than I thought, he’s gonna be bigtime!

With a smaller line up I think we will see a lot more full court press defense than last year. I hope Wade can get this team 10 deep so we can play a lot of press.

I see him as a thinner, slightly less athletic, but more polished (at this stage in their careers) Jarrell Martin.

Many on the board a looking for a comp to a recent LSU player, not a guy who played at Stanford nearly 15 years ago who many may not even remember. Using those parameters, he's probably closest to a Jarrel Martin than any other recent LSU players.

After watching the highlight video, I'm not concerned about any perceived defensive "limitations."

I like the PJ Washington comparison,

Now if he becomes that good we'll be in business. He's gonna be a good player and seems to have that grit that WW likes
