Obviously we don't fully know McMahon's philosophy and preferred style of play with this roster, but the only thing I see a bit differently is starting KJ Williams at the true "5" position. He'll play their some in certain rotations, but unless he just isn't ready, I could see Phillips at the 5 to allow Williams more versatility at the 4. Reed looks to be more athletic, but does he have the size to compete with bigger "bigs" in the SEC?

Williams should be the centerpiece of the frontcourt. Moving him around to get shots will probably be the approach. I see him as a Johnny O'Bryant type of player. Big, strong, guy with more offensive skill than one might expect.

That said, the starting 5 proposed by the author is certainly intriguing. LSU should be as big in the frontcourt as they've been since 18-19.

Last year's team looked to have a lot of depth in the offseason until injuries before and during the season started to erode that depth. Miller was lost for the year. Pinson missed several games. O'Neal wasn't fully available until SEC play. Wade actually played more guys in his rotation last season than he usually did. However, "depth" of the roster was always somewhat of a misnomer for Wade when it came to the actual gameplay because he was pretty steadfast in maintaining a rotation of 7-8 core players.

Almost everything about this team is new this year. The only returning starter on the roster for LSU is Wilkinson. Thus, we have very little idea of what the roles could look like right now. The roster has 9 guys with pretty significant experience, along with 3 highly touted incoming freshmen. ALL of them are going to be looking for minutes, so it very well may be that McMahon will have a rotation of 9-10 guys. At Murray State last season he had essentially players that appeared in every game. The only reason it wasn't 9 is because of injury to one member of their usual rotation.

I'm interested to see what kind of OOC schedule McMahon puts together because much of it may be an experimental phase to figure out what kind of team he has before SEC play starts.

I enjoyed the read and I believe the narratives to be fair to the players.

Assuming no injuries, it looks as if walk ons like Parker Edwards may not get any minutes??

That starting 5 is the most talented 5 that can be put on the court at the same time IMO.

Doesn't necessarily mean it would play the best together.
