BR - LSU won’t be facing another rushing quarterback quite like Plumlee in the SEC
Posted by TrueTigerTale on 11/17/19 at 4:01 pm385
The Advocate's Brooks Kubena reported "LSU won’t be facing another rushing quarterback quite like Plumlee in its remaining SEC schedule. Arkansas’ three quarterbacks — Nick Starkel, Ben Hicks and John Stephen Jones—have combined for eight total yards rushing. Texas A&M’s Kellen Mond has been an effective rusher, with 400 yards and seven touchdowns this season, but he has yet to rush for over 100 yards in a game."
"If LSU plays Georgia in the SEC championship game on Dec. 7 in Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, the Tigers won’t have to be concerned with Jake Fromm’s mobility. The 6-foot-2, 220-pound junior has rushed for 23 yards this season."
"But a berth in the College Football Playoff?"
"A national championship run could be froth with dual-threat quarterbacks. Oklahoma’s Jalen Hurts has rushed for 983 yards and 15 touchdowns, Ohio State’s Justin Fields has rushed for 377 yards and 10 touchdowns and even Clemson’s Trevor Lawrence has upped his mobility with 317 yards and seven scores."
Cheer up, everyone. Coach O has around a month to get LSU's defense prepared and playing the way it needs to be playing against quality running QB's in the playoffs. No doubt, LSU analysts and coaches will figure how best to prepare and use LSU's defensive talent in the playoffs, my guess practicing against the fastest players on LSU's scout team at QB.
Alabama was a bruising game, and we're deep into the season of a bruising schedule, LSU players needed rest during the week, so I doubt there was much physical preparation for Ole Miss' running style QB. But Coach O has gotten LSU this far, he will have LSU's defense ready for the playoffs.

Having a month off before the playoff will help us tremendously

We have to survive Aggies and UGA to get into the playoffs. That is not a guarantee.

Tremendous opportunity for LSU, a whole month to work on preparation and depth, two great areas of concern for the defense.

You serious Clark?
What evidence do you have that UGA could remotely survive in an offensive shootout? Because they scored 63 vs Murray St?
As far as the queer steers, they have no idea what hellish fury is in store for them in 2 weeks. Any Tiger that is returning from last year is salivating for that regular season ending game.

I agree. While I'm going to remain cautiously optimistic as I have for every game this season, my mojo has us 10-0 by the way, LSU's offense is its greatest weapon, and I don't see the Aggies nor Ga keeping up.

Anyone want to bet that they'll triple or quadruple those numbers this weekend?

Hurts, Fields, and Lawrence don’t run near as fast and quick as Plumlee.
We’re good.
We’re good.

LSU needs depth and injuries to heal up. Arkansas is the perfect team to allow that.

I hadn't even thought about what Hurts would do against this D until now.
Mother of God...

Good post.
One thing: Plumlee may be the fastest QB in the country.
He looked faster than anyone on LSU's defense.

I don't think Hurts is near as quick as Plumlee. Neither is Fields.
They are both talented runners and dangerous QBs, but they are not going to be outrunning the entire LSU defense like Plumlee did repeatedly.

I agree - neither are as fast or as shifty as Plumlee. Both are much more of a threat to pass obviously, but Plumlee is an outlier. Dude wasn't lying when he said he was faster than our entire defense.
