I'm conflicted by all of this.

On the one hand I think Michigan is a sexier opponent and an easier win for us so I'm inclined to prefer that match up.

On the other hand I don't like the idea of us being disrespected by the powers that be, and slotted again in a bowl below where we feel we should be.

I think ii'll say f@ck pride. Let's go Gator. A young QB would be better off going against the Michigan defense than the tougher Iowa D. Likewise I don't know how our d line would hold up against the Iowa power running game.

As has been said repeatedly, it doesn't matter how much money the bowl pays. Every SEC school pools all the money together and divides it 15 ways.

The school gets 2 shares, so LSU would get less money, but I laugh at the idea LSU gives a damn about $100k. Playing Michigan would be a much better opp to not have to wat tickets like last year.

Thank you Golfer. I wonder if any of these posters have been to those areas. AB has a great little town center and is 25 minutes from Everbank.

The Cotton Does. But they got fricked when the CapOne took South Carolina.

Nobody wants aTm. They just want Johnny Football. Watch next year when he's gone and they're 7-5.

It does seem that way. I do think that LSU is an easier sell to the networks, all things being relatively equal, than say S Carolina or Missouri. But obviously we're not competing against them for a spot......Obviously we're not beating out JFF , but in most years we're probably more attractive to the networks than A&M also.

Of course the bowl committees don't listen 100% to the networks and in many ways have different interests. Bowl committees want heads in beds and networks want tv ratings.

It's GEOGRAPHY. If half the bowls with SEC tie-ins were in Texas, LSU would be choice #2. They're closer, and it's a hotbed for LSU alumni and recruits.

Of course they would rather the UGAs, USCs, and Floridas of the world. And aTm is just a fluke. Next year LSU will be more desirable than aTm again.

I thought the Cotton wanted South Carolina from what I heard and read. Cotton would be my first choice by far, great storyline against OkSt but Gator against Michigan would be a great matchup. Just a difficult trip to try to make.

They wanted South Carolina over Mizzou. But if the CapOne would have taken Mizzou, it would have gotten interesting. Because if the Cotton took LSU, South Carolina would have been screwed like LSU got screwed last year.

That's because you look at the participants in bowl games as being merit-based, but in reality they're not. Remember, outside of the BCSNCG, bowls are nothing but glorified exhibition games with the main selection criteria being who will sell the most tickets/garner the most viewers

I live in Tampa during breaks, so i've been selfishly rooting for the Outback. Can't afford to see FSU play so next best thing I guess
