Nothing to enjoy. At no time, did Brian Kelly warrant a 10 year 100 mil fully guaranteed contract. Just no way. And here we are. We are on an above average run.

regular season wins. Bowl games are a shadow of what they used to be if you don't make the playoffs.
Bowl games count in ncaa records and stats. Your personal opinion on it is irrelevant. 2022 and 2023 lsu was a 10 win program after taking over a dumpster fire.

his is year 3 and LSU is probably going to finish worse than the previous two years.
So like saban did in year 3 and 5 at lsu? Like Kirby did at UGA?

There's a significant difference between a 9 and 10 win regular season
The only thing that matters is your end result. 2 10 win seasons,a sec west title and heisman after taking over the worst lsu situation since dinardo.

This is the rant in a nutshell. This place would have rioted had we gone cheap and hired someone unknown.
The same place that calls multiple games as must wins and big games until we win them and then they are never counted as big wins by the HC. I'm convinced that 60% of the lsu posters on here aren't lsu fans and are constantly shitting on the program so we lose recruits and fans. why the frick else would we have fans in here saying the coach, program and players all suck while we are months away from signing a monster class?

It’s championship or bust.
So in your eyes lsu has only had 4 great seasons?
I'm sure you hold yourself to this standard as well.....

Are we could have gotten a lesser known up and comer. That if they didn’t perform wouldn’t have cost much to get rid of. Instead we stuck with Kelly and $60-70 mil buyout. We did good, everyone thinks highly of us.
So you wanted to hand over the program that was already in a dumpster fire position left over from the last head coach to an unproven “up and comer” because it was cheaper? Do you not realize just how bad that could have gone for the program? Instead of being a 3 to 5 year rebuild like Ed Orgeron left it, had your “up and comer” also failed miserably (like Sunbelt Billy @ Florida has) you would be looking at a 10 to 15 year rebuild if you were lucky. It could even end your program as it stands like what happened to Nebraska.
What do you care how much we pay a coach? Not one damn dime of it is coming out of your broke arse pocket.

Yet if you listen to him speak he comes off as if he’s won multiple championships. His arrogant answers to some questions piss me off. Like brother you haven’t won shite. “We should be happy with 9 win regular season with a shite bowl win to make it a 10 win season”. If he thinks that’s acceptable then ya he needs to go.

At least he takes responsibility as opposed to that last doofus coach we had who would just throw players and other coaches under the bus like it was nothing.

Because they are spoiled, selfish little pricks who think they are owed everything they want immediately.

How many active coaches have won a NC?
Posted on 11/14/24 at 1:06 pm to CalRipkenJr
Funny how you left out the two national championships we won but whatever suits your ageneda

Maybe not the best thread the year after a guy who coached for 20 years finally won one.

Three - Dabo, Kirby, and Mack
But there were three others in the pool after '23 (Nick, Harbaugh, and Jimbo). At one time ('08), there were five alone in the SEC (Les, Nick, Urban, Spurrier, and Fulmer and that's not including Tubs who went undefeated in '04). And nationwide, that would also have included Carroll, Brown, Tressel, Stoops, Bowden, Coker, Paterno, and I may be missing some.
So the current # is probably a historical low.

Unless he can keep the next two recruiting hauls together , even with some upgrades and can hit the portal for 2 top line players that can immediately start on offense and defense each, BK will never sniff a NC in his career. the guy just doesn't have the chops, personality, mentality and toughness. He is basically a fake and his stint at LSU for 7-8 years will finally prove that to the college football world.

I didn't call him a fraud, I just believe he's great at hiring coaches for any sport but football!
Woodward made the best possible hire he could at the time for football
He paid out the arse for a coach who would be as close to a guarantee as possible for not letting the wheels fall off the program which was damn close to happening
Woodward isn’t as dumb as all of you. Natty-or-bust is a stupid mentality to have because hardly any coaches will ever win one. Even the best ones at top programs.
Better to get a high floor low ceiling coach than an unproven who may or may not have a higher ceiling, factor in that ceilings are speculative and don’t even really make sense.

You just don’t get it. That’s OK
Posted on 11/14/24 at 9:53 pm to CalRipkenJr
I’m actually ok with BK winning 9-10 games a year with one or two CFB appearances and keeping the cupboard stocked for the next FB coach while Mulkey and Johnson win multiple natties.

He’ll tell you all about his championship philosophy though…

At some point you have to look at a guy's record and realize, he is what he is!
Charlie McClendon coached at LSU for 18 years and never won a NC. His winning percentage was .692. He had only one losing season. I guess fans weren't as fickle back then.

Whenever BK says the team is prepared we get our arse handed to us. Its like an omen.
