I’m not understanding the obsession with this guy.
I’m pretty confident we can attract a better coach without the sketchy past.

So we can get turned down?
Dude doesn’t like to recruit.
Will be an NFL HC soon, probably next year.
Doesn’t want to be a college coach, he’s made that clear.

You are exactly correct. Then again this is the Rant so there has to be plenty of rumors tossed at the board.

Would bringing back Brady as the HC be considered?

The guy has paid his dues, proven he is an excellent coach, learned from the best, knows Louisiana, understands and appreciates the culture, and seems to be a good family man with his priorities in the right place.

I hope Woodward finds someone who knows nothing about Louisiana and doesn’t understand the culture.

This is the dumbest myth that gets espoused on this board. It’s the kind of thinking that helped get O the job in the first place.

I would much rather have Hugh Freeze over Napier.
So you would rather the same man that was fired from Ole Miss for hiring prostitutes for players and recruits……ok That makes a lot of sense from a PR perspective

Napier isnt the sexy hire everyone would like but he may be the hire that LSU needs. The man knows how to build a program and sustain it

Nope. LSU fans are stupid and want someone they think can beat Saban, rather than someone who has done it multiple times.

I can understand the optics. But it's been years since that issue, and the lord, his wife, and the powerless NCAA has forgiven Rev Freeze of his transgressions. Woodward is going to hire the best guy. And the best Guy is Rev Freeze.

Freeze plus Walker Howard equals Ships.

Woodward is certainly not going to fire this guy from just down the road to hire this other guy from just down that road.

He went to championship level coaches his last two hires. Mulkey was a winner, and Johnson was in the CWS when Woodward got him.

Look for someone that has recently been a major part of a playoff team

It’s not dumb. Having a good reputation and relationships with LA high school coaches and power brokers goes a long way. Napier is almost universally well-liked. O had enemies in LA.

When a coach arrives to a school and is unfamiliar with the landscape they usually hire people around them to help familiarize them to it. This is nothing new. If a coach refused to adapt or get acquainted to the local environment they’d always fail.

That’s extremely important in a talent-rich state like Louisiana. We can’t have a year or two where the state can be poached by other schools because the coaching staff couldn’t hit the ground running. Keeping the 22 LA class home is paramount for whoever the next coach is.

Freeze may have a sketchy past, but who else has Saban's number?

Hugh Freeze is like advertising that you're going to cut you're own throat. LSU rumored to be up to their hairline in Title IX issues, so let's bring in another former Ole Miss HC that will automatically invite white hot NCAA scrutiny. Yeah, let's do that.
