This is just my thoughts. No insider info whatsoever.

Friday: Skenes
Saturday: Hurd/Taylor?
Sunday: Floyd/Little?

For the first time in about 10 years, we’ve got more pitching than we know what to do with…

That’s probably pretty accurate.

Skenes the first day so he can focus on hitting the rest of the weekend.

I could also see Skenes as a closer.

I read in some other posts that word on the street is Skenes will take Saturdays off and hit Sunday plus a weekday.

I don’t see that happening. He’ll be the second pitcher off the board in this years draft. It’d be a waste to have him closing.

Figuring the pitching roles will take some time and by sec play will know a lot more
I’m confident our mlb coach will have the best plan ready by sec play

It’ll sort itself out as we get into the season, but I could see Little or Taylor sliding into a closing roll pretty nicely. Especially Taylor. He seems to have the mentality for it.

Skenes
Floyd
Hurd

Taylor/Shores the outsiders looking in.

Will be fun to see it play out in spring scrimmages.

Agreed, I think tier 1 is Skenes, Hurd, Floyd, Taylor

Little is most likely weekday or bullpen.

Wonder if bollman was brought back if another pitcher might not be ready for season
Jay may shed some light next week at media days

Yep. I think Shores will be in the mix before little. Little will be on the backend I think.

Also curious to see what Noot brings to the table.

It depends. He has struggled in the past at Vanderbilt with inconsistency. If Wess can improve that he is a starter. I see little as a back in guy right now. I think the starters are Skenes/ Hurd/Floyd/ Taylor. Taylor might be used as a starter closer type guy.

I feel like we see a lot of Shores and Herring on weekday starts

I think Floyd is our best pitcher and at some point he will take over the Friday night spot. It wouldn’t shock me if Shores found his way into the Sunday spot later in the season.

Little has a long way to go to get innings with this staff. He needs to be way more reliable.

Yea, or maybe he just isn’t a starter?

his numbers out the bullpen last year:

1.93 ERA
0.89 WHIP

6 er
7 bb

I think the weekend rotation will start out

Fri: Skenes
Sat: Floyd
Sun: Hurd

I’m more curious how they use Taylor, if they commit to him as a midweek guy to keep him stretched out or throw him into the bullpen full time

Ryan Theriot was on AFR yesterday and said it will be Skenes, Floyd and Hurd to start. Wes Johnson gushes about Floyd when he talks about him. Theriot also said this team is absolutely loaded with arms. Also said this team can hit and hit for major power.

I think Taylor will be the closer with Skenes Friday Floyd Saturday and Hurd on Sunday. Hurd healthy on Sunday will be sick as frick! I look for Shores as a weekday starter maybe Herring as well. Lots of options for middle relief.

If shores has good control he will see a lot of action. I watched Herring in the Texas state tournament and it’s really good stuff. Mahtook seems to think that Floyd will eventually be the Friday guy.
