I don’t get the animosity toward Johnny
Dudes a former tiger and worked his arse off for LSU. He’s wasn’t good enough but the shame of being fired from your alma mater should be enough. No reason to want blood

I’ll give him credit for getting talent back in BR, but he’s the worst in game coach I’ve seen in a long time.
Dude didn’t make the tournament with the #1 overall pick that was considered to be the next Lebron. That’s just about impossible and inexcusable.

I never understood the hate either. I like having Will Wade now and the immense amount of talent on our rosters.
Johnny Jones was averaging 20 wins a season his first four years and was the fastest LSU coach to 80 wins or something like that. Then he was bringing in Simmons, Blakeney, and Sampson. We were all hyped at that point. He recruited well instate, out of state, and juco talent.
The Ben Simmons team was miserable to watch. I think we hung ourselves with our own expectations. I think there was major chemistry issues among the players that year. Coupled with the complete meltdown against NC State in the tournament the year before.
Not a dominant coach. Glad we upgraded. Just thought he did an ok job until his terrible last season.

I’m just happy we play lol. And earlier so it doesn’t interfere with Kyler Murray or Gonzaga UVA. I had my whole tv schedule laid out beforehand, and this solved the conflict

Agree with this and said similar in the game announcement thread the other day. Johnny is and always will be a Tiger. And anyone doubting or questioning that needs to go listen to Wade’s coach’s show from earlier this week. He gave huge props to Jones and spoke very glowingly and with admiration for Jones and Jones’s love for LSU.
Aside from the obvious on court performances, the only time I was ever pissed with Johnny the man and spoke ill of him was when and how the Simmons season ended in the SEC tournament with one of the most pathetic performances ever followed by him allowing the players to dictate declining a postseason NIT bid. I had it with him at that point.
