just need to get used to these types of games because this is now the make up of our team. We've been a top 5 team all year, so you can't bitch too much. But when your offense sucks as bad as ours does you end up in a lot of close games that can go either way

Exactly. And we've won most of our 1 and 2 run games this season.

A lot of people said this same thing prior to this year......im still not sold on his arm strength.....i mean he pitched less than 70ish pitches today and he was well done to say th least in less than 5 innings.

I truly think PM fricked this situation up. He should have shut Eades down until the SEC Tourney. Eades arm would have came back strong and rested after 3 weeks just like when he went play summer ball last year. If it cost us in the regular season so be it. Omaha is our destination.

They understood that this weekend meant more to Vandy so they acted as gracious hosts and allowed them to pillage the Box? Nice.

MSU's AD had more to do with that than anything else. And go look at who Vandy played in the early part of the year.

I'm convinced that this board is made up of a bunch of 17-20 yr old nerds that never played sports.

This team doesn't need to worry about being a national seed and start worrying about how to play offense when Raph doesn't get multiple hits, getting our starting pitching going again, and praying for a quick recovery for Ross.

I don't think we're a bad team but its pretty obvious these guys aren't quite as talented as the '09 team. I'd be more pissed today if it were anyone but Goody who blew the save but it happens. Dude has been money all year. Jacoby's frick up yesterday had me pissed as hell though...

I'm not for the "burn the Box" fans but at least there seems to be more passion on here than from our players this weekend. Unrational passion perhaps but at least someone is acting like it matters. I didn't see that from our team.

Early December? No comparison to this at all

its a bad comparison to football

but compare it to basketball which kinda has the same process as the baseball does for the tournament.

LSU being so highly ranked in the RPI top 10 will have no problem making the tournament and no problem hosting a regional. But hosting a super is a different question.

what they will look at for us is just our RPI rank, it will go down slightly this weekend, but will stay top ten.

next they will look at quality wins. They include Kentucky (1 win), Florida (2 wins) Arkansas (3 wins), and how ever many against USCe.

Then they will look at poor losses app state (not sure if they will count this) auburn (same thing) vandy (same thing)

then they will factor in schedule of strength I'm not sure what ours is.

and that is about it.

just think of it this way

winning the series next weekend will have a bigger positive impact on us even though we lost this series.

but lets say we won today and only won one game next weekend, that could have a bigger negative impact on our chances for a top 8 seed, because of how it will effect RPI. 2 wins against a top 5 RPI team has a larger impact, IMO then a loss against a top 50 RPI team who isn't top 25

They lost. They played teams with reputations and LOST. Last year we SWEPT a team with a reputation. Don't see how they get in unless they win the SEC Tourney.

Oh, we'll, doesn't matter.

SOS is being discussed here. Which was the topic of discussion in December.

good point, but I guess if you are a basketball bracket need when it comes to basketball you would understand why vandy has the record they do and why they are still a tough team to handle.

and don't forget outright SEC west champions with a chance to win the SEC, with a good shot at a top 8 national seed.

at the beginning of this year I would have been happy with being top 3 in the SEC west and making the NCAA tournament, this team after where they have been have mad a great year. CPM has shown time and time again he is one hell of a coach and with this new pitching coach I see only growth for this team in the future.

No team is going to Dominate baseball again, the game is entirely different than the 90's

There's no doubt in my mind that the 2009 squad was the most talented team I've seen at LSU. Some might say 1996 or 1997, but those teams were fueled by the big bats and different style of play. This team (as far as talent goes) is nowhere near those and really mediocrely (is that a word?) talented.

Now, I still think the main goal at the beginning of the season was to make it to Omaha. At least for me personally, if you would have told me that we will make it to the CWS, I would have said that we caught all the breaks and overachieved a bit. I still believe it is conceivable.

I know people are going to hate this, but I'm going to say it again.

It's baseball. This shite happens.

We play in the best conference in the country by a landslide and we get tested week in and week out. At 17-10, we are ONE game outside of the SEC lead. Come on guys, we are in a fine position to be in. Of course we have our problems at SP, catcher, and with Arby, but I've seen it all watching this school play baseball. And we are FAR from out of it and all these fans running for the hills can continue running and find a cliff to jump off of cause I'm enjoying the smaller bandwagon.
