Garza and Hampton out with back issues.

Some have stepped it up hitting including Gio, Dugas and Cranford.

What does the best starting lineup look like going into first SEC series?

What we had this weekend looked solid but we were playing a nobody so I really won’t have an opinion on who’s best to start until after this weekend

LF - Only Question mark, probably depends on pitching match ups. Sanford, Toups or Dugas
CF - Gio
RF - Cabrera
3rd - Mathis
SS - Cranford
2nd - Doughty
1st - Beloso
C - Milazzo
DH - Sanford, Toups or Dugas, who ever they feel matches with the starting pitching that is not starting in left. Garza was stated as possibly being back as well.

You might see Paul looking at Gio at leadoff or 2nd in the line up in the midweek game. That could tip his hat to the weekend as well.

Based on ob %, these guys should be in there somewhere:
Cabrera (RF) - .478
Gio (CF) - .462
Toups (DH/LF) - .462
Sanford (LF/DH) - .417
Dugas (2B) - .400
Mathis (3B) - .375
Cranford (SS) - .367
Milazzo (C) - .360
Beloso (1B) - .359

Leaves Doughty on bench.

Surprised to see Beloso at bottom of this list as average is .317.

Anyone tell me what's been up with Ma'Khail Hilliard? He's only gotten 1 appearance for an inning so far this season.

Doughty has to be in the lineup daily...either in the field or DH. One of our best bats that will only get better.

So which of the 3 guys that has a way better OB % than him do you want to take out?

Some of those players you mentioned barely have any AB, not sure you can use just raw stats for everyone right now. Like Toups is very high on your list but he has just 12 plate appearances total.

Tough to do a lineup still right now but I will say I've lost a lot of faith in Bianco in the lineup. He just doesnt seem to have it. He's 1 for his last 17 AB. I would continue to try Toups or Sanford out in LF.

I think these guys are probably locked in right now:

CF - Gio
RF - Cabrera
C - Milazzo
1B - Beloso
SS - Cranford
3B - Mathis

LF, 2B and DH still very much up for grabs, especially with Arnold back. Dugas just had a huge game but will be interesting to see what they do with 2B/DH with him and Doughty as well as Garza.

Pretty simple, Toups or Sanford. You can not base these decisions simply on OB%.
Especially when the two mentioned have fewer at bats combined than Doughty does. He will be one of our best hitters by the end of the year, if we play him.

You can add Doughty to that at this point. I think he has only missed one game out of the lineup.

how many ABs does Sanford have?

Doughty isn’t coming out of the lineup and id probably go into Oxford with Dugas in LF or at DH.

Assuming mainieri will want to get as many righties in the lineup as possible on friday night, id expect dugas or bianco to start in left, and if garza cant dh, then the one not in left being the dh. Saturday and sunday will likely feature sanford/toups in left.

LF- Dugas
CF- Gio
RF- Cabrera
3B- Mathis
SS- Cranford
2B- Doughty
1B- Beloso
C- Milazzo

If Garza is out, I think you’ll see Travinksi get some ABs at DH
