I thought you had to slide going into second. Shouldn't that be an auto double play with the runner running almost outside the basepath and in the way?

As a former first baseman. Plays like that it can sometimes be tough to find the bag when you never actually look at it when you field and throw to second. Try and go by field awareness. Sometimes that fails you
