I'm fine for now. I don't want to have to sit through another 11-4 game, though.

I'm not as old as MMM; I can handle it.

I laugh when people think every loss is because we choked or didn't "show up".

Specially in baseball, it is a much different game than basketball or football.

One loss doesn't mean anything (same can be said for one win too).

You two can work shifts. Gmorgan, go get some sleep and be back at about 10:30 to take over.

Arkansas swept #1 LSU up in Fayetteville in 2001.

But LSU took 2/3 in 2003, LSU swept Arkansas in 2005, and took 2/3 in 2007.

Rapage.

And unlike many of my Hog-following brothers here tonight, I know we are only 9 innings into a 3-game series, so we sure as Starkville haven't won a series in Fayetteville since 2001 yet. That said, I like that our bats seem to have come alive. And after a couple of shaky innings early, our pitching did the job. I'm hoping to keep the status quo for 18 more innings.

I Appreciate the Rant board keeping a game thread going. I am not pleased that some of my over-zealous Hog fans have hijacked a game thread. This is the best board to keep up with a game when radio/tv is not an option. The Razorback board I follow most just gives random score updates from time to time. I would love to see this thread stay pure and keep the shite talking in another thread. Some of us just want to follow our baseball team.

Best of luck (but not too much luck...mostly just for a well-played game in which nobody gets hurt) in game 2. Go HOGS!

What effect do you think this game will have on us for the 2nd game?

Well said Ben.

Your pitching was excellent after the rocky start. I would have hoped for as much from our pitching.

and now...for Game 2.

I was thinking we did better in BR than in Fayettenam against LSU.

Where are the stat geeks at to inform us?

LSU took 2 out of 3 from Arkansas in Baton Rouge in 2008 and 2006.

But Arkansas swept LSU in 2004 in Baton Rouge.

And LSU swept Arkansas in 2002 and 2000 in Baton Rouge.

So other than Arkansas sweeping LSU in 2001 and 2004, they've been LSU's bitch in baseball since 2000.

Nice post. Arky should be proud of their team. They are a gritty, fundamentally sound bunch of kids. If your team was in LSU's uniform our fans would be proud as hell of them.

That being said I still think LSU is a better overall team...and will go further in post-season play. That's not a knock on Arky....and if you are an honest fan of baseball, you would have to agree. LSU may lose this series...but hell...we lost a series to UT at home...the worst team in the SEC right?...

I have seen it too many times...a team scorches another team in game 1 of a DH. And then in game 2, it is the complete reverse of that. I'm hoping by mentioning that, I am confusing the Karma gods and keeping our bats hot.

If we get too cocky and think this series will be a cake walk, we are in for a rude awakening.

Arkansas is a better team than us and wil win this series. It is unbelieveable that we could not show up for this most important series. CHOKE.

I think I am an honest fan and a very rational one, but I think I can honestly disagree. At least, I will say I'm not ready to concede that fact. You DO have an intimidating pitching staff. And you have hit 20 more home runs than we have on the season. AND before our game, you were leading us by 1/2 game in the West, so I see where you're coming from. However, we took 2 from Arizona State. In late innings. We took one late against OU this week - never leading until they walked in the winning run in the bottom of the 9th with 2 out. We also have a sweep against the East leading FU Gators.

I say all this to point out that although we don't have the marquee players, and our stats look like we're doing it with smoke and mirrors, I believe we have that intangible of heart that makes the whole better than the sum of its parts. This is one of those teams that's fun to watch. They are never out of a game. And they're tough as a ten-cent steak.

Like I said...best of luck to you guys.
