I believe he had better pitching that he could have used in relief, but knows more what to expect from them. As he has typically done early in the season, he plays certain players in certain situations to see if they can be counted on later in similar situations. I’ve gotten use to the slow starts associated with his experimentation, and will be more concerned if the light doesn’t come on in a few weeks.
