Find someone who “liked” losing last night. The point is in the grand scheme of things, the final result of these games means little

No point in this thread.

Those of us who understand it don't need to hear it.

Those of us that don't understand it will never stop having mental break downs after every loss, no matter what you put in front of them.

The season must be a wild roller coaster ride. Unrealistically high after a win, with expectations of a national championship. Rock bottom after a loss, where CPM and Slaughter are sure to be to blame somehow.

You don't watch LSU baseball much if you don't understand by now how CPM handles midweek games. And how he handles them has proven over and over again to work, yet people still don't get it. Skip did the exact same thing.

At the end of the season when LSU is waiting to see who will be coming to their regional, ULL will most likely be waiting to find out if they get into one at all. Would you trade situations for a meaningless win last night?

During the 90’s Skip would regularly lose midweek games to Nicholls, USL, etc. Even during those dominant years, people would be bitching at the Box about losing to an inferior in-state opponent. It’s just the way it is.

ETA - should have read the whole thread. Just saw similar responses to mine

Too many people with a football mindset during baseball season. It’s just not healthy to live on the edge like that for 56 games.

I’m sure other teams wouldn’t mind losing midweek games if they still made late season runs like LSU does nearly every year. I don’t like losing to ULL and Southeastern but I realize these games are needed to get this team ready for SEC games and postseason. Let ULL enjoy their meaningless midweek win while we enjoy being near the top at the end of each season. The baseball IQ on this board is embarrassing. If last season didn’t prove how meaningless these midweek losses are then nothing will to some people.

Yes I got a little edgy last year over the midweek losses, but not this year. Just have to let things play out as they will.

Worst place team in the majors won 64 games last year against teams who are not the worst. Some of those wins came against the best.

It's baseball. And the ability to win/lose on any given night is what makes the sport great.

You know what type of person calls another person “loser?”

Losers.

I'm not mad about the loss I'm just mad I have to see all the Lafayette people happy. Happy people are the worst. I'm actually starting to feel more confident with this team. Pitching was a disaster but has been steadily improving. LSU should sweep this weekend which will help the record but another tough midweek game next week with South Alabama.

Well that's just false.

Skip from 1991-2000 vs in state schools in regular season:
129-36 [0.782 win pct]

Now let's look at Paul from 2009-2018 and reason there is a concern:
2009-2015: 69-10
2016-2018: 18-10

Skip never went through a stretch to what we have seen the last few years vs in state teams. Paul used to care about winning these games, and the trend lately shows he just does not care anymore about these games.

Will point out Skips numbers include 2 schools from the state that went to Omaha or competed to go to Omaha in that timeframe [Tulane went in 2001 and ULL in 2000], Manieri has had just ULL [periodically] with teams good enough to make a run during his 10 year span I included.

Very convenient of you to not put Paul's winning percentage....81.3%. Didn't want to make Skip look bad?

And uh, yeah, real concerning....Paul will never get his teams to Omaha...oh wait.

It's sad to see so many care so much about a sport about which they know very little. It's not just on this board. The average LSU baseball fan really doesn't understand baseball, especially college baseball.

We have some educated fans so these aren't the people about which I speak. But LSU baseball is far too popular to have so many ignorant fans.
