Barbe High is playing Sam Houston State? I know they’re good but competing with a D1 school is a big task.

I always found it funny that people argue LC as being more Louisiana than Texas culturally yet they have a school and park named after Sam Houston.

Well first you have to define what "Louisiana culture" means? There's Creole, Cajun, mixtures of the two with various influences from Spanish and French cultures. The various regions of Louisiana vary culturally like SWLA, the Atchafalaya Basin, New Orleans, North Louisiana etc. Lake Charles is less influenced by Cajun culture than say it's neighbor Jennings but to say that it identifies more so with Texas is debatable. Sure, there is a lot of second to fourth generation transplants in Lake Charles due to the fact that most of its population moved to the region during the post WW2 industrial boom. I would argue that one only has to look at the city's festivals to see that it is more influenced by Cajun culture than whatever SETX has to offer culturally.

Why would you draw the line at Iowa?

The park is actually named for Sam Houston Jones, a former governor of La, who was born in Merryville.

Good ole tiny Merryville. Big deal when Dollar General was built there.

Barbe is legit! They played Zachary in a doubleheader Saturday. Both won by Barbe but two great games decided in the last inning of each.

Perhaps a preview of the Class 5A state championship? Hard to imagine two better teams as long as they're on opposite sides of the bracket.

Doesn't matter in Louisiana. Rounds 1, 4, and 5 are single game elimination. It doesn't take a better team to knock one of them off. All it takes is a good game from someone's ace. Rounds 2 and 3 are best of 3 though...because that makes sense to the LHSAA.

Nah Sam Houston is overrated. They lost 3 out of 5 since they started playing competition.

Barbe coach wife on the call
What about the kid that plays football basketball baseball runs track on fri and flies to Vegas for 7 on 7 football
Barbe must recruit from entire Houston area and they get local or player families to house all these kids
