??

Out of conference games would matter big time for the 3 at large sections.

I actually like auto bids for conference champions. It would encourage better innseason OOC games because an OOC loss won’t put a good team behind the 8 ball

In fact I wish the regular season was more standard. 6 14 team power conferences, all play 9 conference games and all OOC games have to be against another Power 6 team.
Conference championship games are the “first round”. After that the 6 championships are seeded and the top 2 get byes.

It would matter for seeding and hosting the quarter finals( if you go to 8). And of course, the at larges.

I think we just need to do away with conference championship games at this point then. Alabama had one less game to play, not an equivalent resume.

You'll probably see all of the non conference games being scheduled at the end of the season.

Would probably be the opposite.

Teams would schedule OOC games early almost like preseason before the conference games start.

But do you really think if Bama and Ohio State played each other tonooen he season the coaches would treat it like a bye?

And wouldn't matter at all for the P5 conference champions

??

Seeding? And it wouldn't be a 5 team playoff, it's 8 teams. So no matter your spin, OOC would still matter in a big way

You seem to think college football is about games and not about $$$$$$$$$$.

Bama has proven a 6-6 type p5 team is good enough so why bother scheduling a powerhouse?
Ohio State scheduling Oklahoma cost them. If they play Texas Tech that weekend, they’re in. Committee done fricked up with this one.

It got Ohio State in last year. And it's secured Oklahoma spot this year.

Big out of conference games are great for you if you win them. If you lose them they hurt.

That’s why I prefer top 4 conference winners, resume matters in that case
