We have struggled against the pass more than against the run. How is it a bad match up?

LSU gave up 5.5 yards per rush against Mizzou and 5.8 yards per rush against South Carolina.

LSU getting out to a big lead prevented South Carolina from running the ball more.

LSU's run fits are the worst I've seen since the 2014 season. You need good LB play and edge contain to stop Auburn's attack. LSU is bad at both right now.

I don’t disagree but we have been worse against the pass. Auburn is not a bad matchup

Yeah.

It’s called a tailwind for their offense.

I love that our O line “gelled” the second a different QB came in. Just a coincidence though right?

Two weeks of practice with emphasis on the running game. Emphasis in game planning for running the ball to help a freshman QB handle his first opportunity as a starter.
It appears it was a success.
I also rewatched the Auburn Ole Miss game this morning.

I’m not convinced we can stop the run.

Auburn has arguably the best RB in the SEC.
They also run a misdirection offense with a lot of motion, which has been kryptonite to the LSU defense.

We are about to find out if the defensive problems are getting fixed, or if USCe was fool’s gold.

I agree with you about the match up. LSU's defense seemed to be struggle with “bad eyes” against Mizzou. The Gus bus lives on “bad eyes”. That being said they are struggling to stop anybody.

If it were any game other than LSU vs. Auburn on Halloween, I would take the over & I would not care what the number is. BUT it is LSU vs. Auburn & it is on Halloween, so it could end up 3-2, who the Hell knows.

We did run the ball more, but the first half was way more balanced than most think, we threw it 16 times for over 200 yards in the first half. Then we put it on cruise control in the 2nd

Every team will score 35+ points on us for the rest of the season

Wrong. Book mark this for after Saturday, no way Auburn scores more than 35

And the game is AT JHS. LSU has much better teams and gotten screwed there multiple times. Secondly, the LSU run defense overall (not just an anomaly like last season against Ole Miss) is by far the worse I’ve seen or heard about in the past 60 years. That includes all of the 90’s and the Alexander game.

My take through 4 games is that opposing teams should just air it out against us. In other words, teams that rely more on the pass game are going to have more success against LSU imo.

If they run the ball, they may very well average 5+ yards per carry, which on its surface sounds good for an offense, but they’re also running the clock and giving LSU’s defense more and more opportunities for negative plays and/or turnovers.

I’m no expert, but my strategy against LSU at this point would be to pass pass pass... teams that try to have balance and run the ball against us are going to allow LSU to stay in the game longer and/or allow LSU’s offense to run away with a win.

Gus and completely will know that Bo Pelini will be donning a headset calling the D so that’s enough right there for an Auburn W.

Auburn will spend the week practicing against the quick slant. We should still burn them.

I'm far from a sunshine pumper, but I'm also a reasonable fan. LSU has little chance against Auburn this weekend. LSU is in disarray and going downhill, and Auburn is working its way back in preparation for its toughest games.

LSU 11, Auburn 48
