At what point do we cut bait?

...with the WW situation. If we’re going to need a coach, there are a lot of great names out there and a lot of good programs looking (AR, aTm, and Texas).
Do we get left behind and have to make a BS hire?

Will Wade will coach at LSU next year. These constant threads need to stop. It’s Will Wade or bust, anyone with a brain knows this.

The reality is that you are not going to get anybody at this point even close to WW's caliber, too many question marks around the program. The best shot is just to ride it out with WW.

That aside, if LSU chooses to move on from Wade they most defintely won't be in the same market as schools such as Ark, A&M, UCLA, etc.
1. No established major conf. HC is going to leave a good gig to come to an uncertain situation at LSU
2. Is LSU going to be willing to offer big money to an in-demand coach while also potentially having to pay the coach they just fired $9 million? (the "cause" issue isn't cut and dry. That issue will absolutely be litigated if LSU fires Wade)
3. Even mid-major coaches in demand will be leery of coming to this situation. They can potentially turn down LSU and wait for a less uncertain situation to arise.
If LSU does fire Wade, then the best they could probably do is a John Brady type of hire. A guy that had decent success at the mid-major level but was old enough that he couldn't afford to wait for a better major conf. situation. Brady knew he was coming into a mess. But he also, at 43 years old, likely thought the LSU job was going to be his only shot at a major conf. job. Thus, he was willing to take on the mess.

The likely scenarios for LSU basketball next year are ones where Wade is able to return or Benford is the "interim" coach.

at the point where a verdict has been determined.
....or maybe be reactionary and fire someone for potentially no reason. and then what? have a 2nd rate coach as a byproduct of running off a future GOAT?
not to mention no quality candidate would come to LSU right now, with a potential NCAA investigation.
