Secondary played much better. Stingley and Stevens are obviously the leaders of this defense.

Need to improve tackling and wrapping up the ball carrier. Too many tackles for loss are being given up by not finishing the tackle.

Tackling angles are atrocious. Need to work on this.

Overall, much improved from last week.

Improvement for sure. Still not sold. Luckily we have another tune-up game next weekend. We need it. UF is gonna be tough.

Held Vandy to 266 yards on 68 plays. Not too shabby for a defense this board was calling garbage all night long

There might be 100 points scored in the UF game between these two teams. As bad as our defense is feared to be, UF’s is as well

D-line looks great; run defense will improve with Glen Logan playing

LB's are the weakness of the defense at the moment. Just seem totally perplexed out there. Think you need to start working in Josh White/other young guys

Secondary is just fine. I knew they would be once Stingley was in. Just a reminder that we win last week if Stingley is playing. It sucks but I think we're improving week by week

It’s not bad, but vandy May have the worst offensive scheme in the entire conference.

Mizzou at least will bring a more modern wrinkle to face, but physically they shouldn’t frustrate the defense. The UF game is the report card. If they look competent against them, even if they give up some points, a lot of fans will stop the clenching of their sphincters

All great points I’d add that lbs gap coverage needs to be addressed. Lbs overextended especially in first half of the game and we got burned on some big runs. If they stay home and not overextend a lot of those big runs don’t happen. I will say this seemed to improve in second half so it may already have been addressed. Overall a much better performance. DL looks very good and Roy will be a stud. Ali gay is better than advertised as is CoX. Just keep getting better. Also Ricks got his second pick. 2 games 2 picks. Going to make offenses have to pick him or stingly soon. Lots of positives.

Huge improvement from the secondary partially getting Stingley back partially going from the air raid and Costello to Whatever that was Vandy was running and a true freshmen.

Still Stingley and Ricks can both play outside. Flott getting to move back to a a lot recover is huge.

Flott is going to have to get ready for some attention, because as ricks gets more experience, people are going to decide not to test our two outside guys.

It’s a good problem to have.

The second half was really good, but they had some very shaky moments in the first half. We allowed too high of an avg yards per rush and Vandy had a couple of big plays dropped. The LBs and Saffies look lost at times. There was improvement, but there’s still work to be done.

UF's defense is not as good as usual either. Their offensive players (Toney and Pitts) are way better than what we have seen and don't go down easy, so the D will have to wrap up a lot better and not allow busts. Pierce, the RB is also very good.

It just feels like we aren't that physical. Is it just me or does it seem like the LB position is kinda undersized?

More stunts and blitzes. Linebackers are as bad as we have had in years. They are not aggressive and play 10 yds off the LOS. Secondary is fine if we can get rid of Flott. Defensive line is average. However, if they were taught to use their hands more, and get off blocks, they would be fine.

I said this multiple times watching the game. Baskerville’s play comes to mind. He took an awful angle, then after the play was throwing his hands up like he had no clue what he was supposed to be doing.

The line rotation will allow for much improved play in the future. LBs need to improve the most of the group. CBs looked much better vs vandy’s vaunted passing attack. Cam Lewis was...eh. Stevens is the leader.

The physical talent and speed component on the D-Line is impressive...
The stunts are not as well conceived as we saw under Aranda, I hope the coaches see that on film...we are not moving in sync on the stunts

It's vanderbilt with a true freshman QB

We're not going to learn anything about how much we've improved until we play an offense with a pulse.

And that isn't happening until UF.
