I like a lot of things about Les. One of the things that irritates me is his refusal to take responsibility for his decisions and his double speak rather than answer questions. It is more than clear to anyone with more than half a brain that he lost faith in Jarret Lee his freshman season. At that point it would have been kind of him to go to Lee and suggest that he had no future with the Tigers and should transfer. But instead he did what was best for Les Miles which was to keep him around in case things got desperate and he needed him. Well as we all know he definitely has needed him the last couple of years. For the most part Lee came through for him. Now here is where the controversy and discussion comes into play. Lee showed loyalty to Les and the Tigers. Does return loyalty and just common human respect and decency demand that Les give him more playing time? Or does winning supercede everything else as our poster would suggest? And how would the Tigers have been hurt if Lee had gotten some playing time? Would it mean we lost a game? Hell no! In fact you could make a very logical case that Jefferson played like crap against GA in the first half and it was the PRUDENT BEST DECISION to give Lee a shot if we wanted to win.
This is the most vaginally infected dribble in this thread. Cry me a fricking river. If the roles were reversed would you and everyone else in this thread be saying the same for the other qb?

Of course there are a few people who dislike JJ because he is black just like there are some who want JJ because he is black!

I find it amusing that the overwhelmingly the JJ supporters immediately resort to the race card versus anyone who questions Les' decision to start JJ.
Never mind if they rooted for Rohan over Booty or Herb over Sparacino or used JJ's own stats and performances such as his 0 first downs vs UGA.

The reason I call them fanbois is they follow the same handbook call someone a racist if they dont worship at the altar of JJ!

Come on now, you've been around long enough to know better. Bronco's post pretty much sums things up, and you find one statment that you disagree with and call it the dumbest things ever posted on the Rant???

Despite his statements to the contrary, CLM never had faith in Lee even when he was playing well through the first nine games. He couldn't wait to get JJ, his running quarterback, back on the field. Didn't matter how JJ played it was a done deal.

Say this all you want, but the fact is we lose to Bama with Lee at the helm. Miles probaly looked at the CFB landscape and thought, "Well, odds are we will see Bama again and Lee has proven he can't handle it."

Did Jefferson play well against Ga in the 1st half? No. But did he have turnovers? Also, no.

Based on Lee's performance, that lost of faith was completely justified.

Are you suggesting Mile coerced Lee into staying at LSU?
Lee mentioned many times he had no desire whatsoever to leave LSU...his choice.

He doesn't have to listen to fans but we damn well have a right to our opinions.

This I agree with.

that one statement was pretty dumb...sorry.

why the hell would you tell a kid to transfer just because he's not going to start? especially a QB?

and claiming he only kept him because thats what was best for Les Miles is half damn retarded

I agree Rudy some people throw that out there because they have no other arguement but also as tou said there are some that do dislike or like him playing because he is black.

As far as the article goes, this is big boy football so anyone wanting fairness might as well just go watch peewee league. Miles is paid to win not to be fair, and yes winning is everything

That's CLM's decision but one he should take responsibility for and not try to pretend that anyone but him is in charge of playing time. And there is certainly no clause in his multi-million dollar contract that says he should expect to never be criticized.

There's also no clause that says he has to play a guy that a bunch of idiot fans cry for.
"oh my god, how can Les be so cruel to such a valiant young man like Lee"
You idiots see about 1/10th of the things that go on with this team. Les knows this team better than anyone and has coached them to the first 13-0 season in LSU history. But obviously the last 4 years were just part of a genius plan by Les to humiliate and disrespect Lee.

You guys have to find a reason to hate on Les and a national championship with a perfect 14-0 season won't slow that down.

Agreed Tiger Dat but this is a message board and part of the reason it exists is so fans can express their opinion.

Also coaches arent infallible see Saban starting Booty over Rohan and if JJ's play in the SECCG doesnt validate that I dont know what does!

This part sums it up for me.
quote:

"I will never understand a coach's decision to deny a player who has proven himself repeatedly. I'm so very happy to know that I'm not the only one who feels this way. I cannot wrap my head around the fact that some coaches lose sight of the very thing that they spend so much time trying to instill in their players. Beyond athleticism, a coach's dream is to have players who are willing to give their absolute best when they're called upon - to lead when they're asked to - to step up in the face of adversity.

"Jarrett, in case you're wondering if all of Tiger nation has forgotten about you, just the contrary. Those of us who have taught our children that "hard work and tenacity pays off " are appalled to see how you've been treated since you've led this team for the majority of the season. Please do not think for one minute that we've forgotten your sweat and the heart you've given to the team. I'm an old-schooler who believes you dance with the person you brought to the prom.

"The way the majority of us feel have absolutely nothing to do with our opinion of Jordan Jefferson. He can't control this any more than you can. Your parents are to be commended for raising a child who continues to raise his head and his spirits in the face of poor decision making. May God richly bless you in your future - whether it be football related or whatever."

Since bitching about having to play Bama again is useless, the "superfans" can now direct their rage to those of us who believe Miles stepped in it with his handling of the QB situation.

What mistreatment of Lee? When the starting quarterback comes back and is ready, he starts. How is this a surprise to anyone?

Lee came into the season as the #2 qb on the roster. He remains the #2 qb on the roster. He hasn't been denied anything. He has fulfilled his role as the back up quarterback--a role he played VERY WELL--and he continues to play it.
