With a few differences. But watching the replay of the Arkansas game they ran the same style defense Auburn did with the differences being on the DLine. The coverage was almost exact same.

And the same defense as Georgia will play. They better figure it out.

My question is why didn't Bama and Ole miss do the same, or did LSU just play better against those teams??

No idea.Bama played alot of man to man.

Arkansas played cover 2 double zone.
Meaning everything 15 yards and in was covered very well.
Deep balls was the answer.

Sure, but on most plays he didn't have time for deep ball routes to happen.

Yes he missed shot I'm sure but pets not act like it was as simple as just deep balls. The o line was getting beat like a drum for a large part of the game.

Arkys defensive front played out if their minds

Wonder if the emotional win over Bama week before, different than was case for Auburn game, had a role?

No need to answer.

Some know this ain’t Madden football. Those are human beings in LSU uniforms.

Not true, especially early in the game. JD5 had enough seconds for WRs to get open. Not sure what the deal was, but yes, the deep ball was lacking

That’s bullshite! He won’t throw it. It has nothing to do with time. Deep balls don’t require any more time than most routes because most of the time running the route is when the ball is in the air. You need one second to throw a straight fly and about two seconds to throw a double move deep route. Add three seconds that the ball is in the air, and the receiver is 40 yards downfield when he catches it.

Everything you said is spot on.

It doesn't require any more time to throw the ball. Jayden just refuses to throw it. The only times he'll throw it, he typically sails it way too far in an attempt to be conservative. And I wish I had an in-depth breakdown, but they are basically all to the sidelines. I can't remember a single pass this year that was thrown between the hashes, 30+ yards down field. Certainly not one that was completed or in a meaningful game.

If you are a DC, you only have to cover 20 yards deep. Make him prove that he's willing to throw it.

I doubt it. They will probably play a lot more man, but they have the team to do it and still give us fits. Bama’s defense just isn’t as strong as we’ve seen in recent years.

I bet they will bring their safeties up unless we take and hit some deep shot, though. Compressing the field and sitting on short and intermediate routes has given us problems all season, whether the defense played man or zone.

the weather and the flu played a huge part of why LSU didn't play well.

There's a lot of reasons why this game was tight.

One thing people are underestimating was Arkansas' loss to Liberty. Objectively, we know that's a pretty good team- they scared Wake Forest earlier this season. Arky still should have beat them.

So we went in and played an embarrassed team, when we were in a post-Bama hangover. That's a dangerous combination.

And it seemed like Kelly knew we were sluggish, he wanted to go for it a couple times. Felt like he was trying to get the motor cranked.

I'm thankful we won, and also that we're getting UAB as a tuneup before we hit another embarrassed A&M team on the road.

No they don't

They play a lot of match zone, they'll also rush 3 and drop 8
Bama played a mix of zone and man - Georgia will be similar

They'll start off the game trying to get pressure with just 4 and see how it goes
