Hey HerdsWord, I don't know about Iowa now, but I do know this: If LSU wins out (beats Bama, beats No. 1 Florida in SEC title game, finishes 12-1), LSU deserves to go to the BCS title game over Iowa.

Why?

2006 Florida destroys Ohio State (Big Ten champ)
2007 LSU destroys Ohio State (Big Ten champ)
2008 Florida destroys Oklahoma; Big Ten co-champ Ohio State loses in Fiesta Bowl to Texas; Big Ten co-champ Penn State gets blown out in Rose Bowl by USC

The Big Ten champion hasn't won a BCS game since 2005.

The SEC has won the last three national championships, all by teams with at least one loss.

FWIW - I don't think Iowa will beat Ohio State in Columbus.

Link? Stats?

By my tally I got the SEC with a 13-11 advantage back to 2000 in bowl games with OSU having went 0-4 in that time frame. I might have missed a couple by accident, but it seems like both conferences have been competitive in head to head bowl games in the last 10 years.

That very well may be true; however, we are discussing the top programs from the SEC. LSU, Florida, Bama would all put a whipping on Iowa right now. It has been the same for the past few years. The top from the SEC destroys the top from the BIG 10. Big games are our specialty

Dont forget that damn near every SEC was bowl eligible. In the top tier bowl games ala Penn st vs. USC or anyone Ohio ST has played, Have been blown out. SC smoked Illinois the year they were supposed to be the best not get to the title game. Your conference champ has been manhandled every year. You mid tier teams have snuck up on a few. titles is what matter, which is where we pull away

2007 LSU destroys Ohio State (Big Ten champ)

LSU didn't DESTROY OSU that year. If OSU would have blocked that punt (don't see how they missed) it would have been down to the wire. The way it turned out, LSU won comfortably, but I wouldn't say LSU DESTROYED them that year. The year before with Florida was a different story.

Also, last year Florida didn't DESTROY Oklahoma. It was a very close game until the end. OSU lost on the last drive against Texas in a game that could have went either way and Penn St. did get blown out against USC.

But I was replying to someone who said that the SEC's middle tiered teams would finish at the top of the Big 10, when it simply would not be the case. I know the top tier SEC teams (Florida and LSU) would most likely be able to beat the best Big 10 team most of the time.

Love the show man. Ya'll keep up the good work. And thanks for joining the Tigerdroppings family.... Tell Collin to checkout the Fark Board. He won't regret it.

ESPN doesn't hate LSU.

last year only 1 big 10 team won a bowl game. That is proof there that the big 10 talent is lacking behind other conferences

The score was closer than the actual game went. They scored at the end and it made the game seem close.

Indiana wipped Iowa for three quarters and then fell apart. INDIANA! What a football power!

i listen to the show everyday and it's one of my favorites...

We would kill to have that schedule but we rather earn our way to the title game...

I agree that LSU won comfortably, but they didn't blowout OSU that year. That game was relatively competitive.

But why has the SEC stuggled with Big 10 teams outside of OSU in the past 10 years then?

the real question is why has iowa struggled so much. If yall were such a juggernaut then why cant you win youre own conference. Then it would be yalls arse we would be beaten

To win comfortably in the NC game to me, its a blowout. I guess my P and G glasses are in the way, but we beat the pretty bad considering they were #1.
