He is in his first year at a program that lost a ton of its talent, maybe give him more than 5-6 games to prove himself?

How many seasons will he need until his players understand their assignments?

He also has been hijacked by covid most of the season. They've had 2 or 3 games canceled/postponed. For most schools this year is one that isn't gonna be held too strongly against their coaching staffs.

Aranda had run his course as DC at LSU. With great talent... we got lit up by Texas, Florida, Bama, Ole Miss... and gave up 38 points to Vandy. Burrow and the offense won all of those games

We have 17 or 19 new starters. Virus disrupted everything. Inexperienced team.

We have a Natty hang over...exodus of starters and leaders hang over... there is or was some sort of social justice/locker room issue.

Much to be fixed. Clearly recruiting is going very well.

Do you just copy and paste this from a word document every time Aranda comes up?

Also didn't have a proper offseason. That hurts teams with new players and new coaches.

Pelini is doing much better for sure.

excuse after excuse. Same excuses I’ve heard for weeks and nobody cares or wants to hear them.

100% agree with this, Aranda is way over rated. Baylor was a 1 loss team last year. Dave will be out soon at Baylor and be back on the DC market all you Aranda lovers can have him back in 2 years.

I've met him and O and have always said he's not a head coach.

Now, I really like him as a DC, but there's a big difference in that and being a stellar HC...

True. But if you are going to point out the bad, be objective and point out the good. Great performances over A&M, UGA, Oklahoma, Clemson. LSU's offense was good all season. The reason they annihilated teams late was because of the defensive effort.

As to the OP, did I miss a meeting where LSU fans we clamoring for Aranda to be the HC? Even with some struggles last year, there is NO DOUBT he would have this group playing better football that what we are currently seeing. Yes, the talent is down overall. But guys like Stevens, Hampton, Clark, who all played pretty well last season didn't just "all of a sudden" get worse in a year. And for O and Pelini to say they have "simplified" the defense as much as possible and guys are STILL playing terrible means either the players don't trust what Pelini is teaching...at all. Or, the coaches simply aren't getting through to the players.

Would LSU be a national champion contender this year with Aranda at DC. Probably not. But I also don't think relatively mediocre to bad offenses would be shredding them either.
