Hurd was a frickin man tonight among children and Magicians. Anyone that thinks otherwise probably stopped watching after the 4th anyway, so you're wasting your time

Asked this in the game thread. Is this an LSU record for a relief appearance? Any game - not just post season.

He dominated with his off speed. They could not see it at all. Eye level and just dropped in the zone each time. Couldn't even make solid contact. They were sitting fastball all game and Guidry threw like 12 straight breaking pitches.

The HRs were an anomaly. They just barreled and turned on those balls. One was inside and was a good pitch they just had quick hands and barreled the ball.

Was thinking about this. Absolutely yes he was amazing. How much of it was him finally developing into the guy we expected, vs not having SEC umps?

The strike em out throw em out was a huge play in the ball game. If the guy makes it to second there is 1 out and runners at 2nd and 3rd.

The HRs were because…

They torched fastballs all night. Floyd and Hurd. Hurd having his slider on was HUGE. We’ll need some sliders from Coleman early tomorrow. Definitely can’t be behind in the count too often against them so control is imperative

2 things. First, he had control of his pitches and wasn’t behind in predictable counts often. Second, He had his out pitch rolling today. OSU never found that slider.

He’s pitched well in 8 of his last 9 outings. 4 of those strong appearances were with SEC umps.

I’ll admit, I called him out in another thread that has since been deleted and said he has been bad all year. Well I was mad and wrong. He has come around his last couple outings no doubt about it. I think today after the shaky start and the 2 runs pissed me off.
Glad I was wrong. Hurd pitched well and kept us in it to win it.
