Just wondering how was the gumbo? I know East of the basin the gumbo starts getting pretty shitty.

They were selling something called "Gumbo Nachos" that looked pretty good...had sausage in it.

I think they should shorten the name. 'BoChos.

Those sounded disgusting. They had 2 or 3 different cheeses in there with the gumbo.

I went to a Gumbo cook off event in Bham this past May. Holy shite. Literally the most awful crap I have ever had. I expected terrible but nothing this bad. Should be a crime calling it gumbo. My wife let them know. She's cajun, cant help it. The LSU alumni were out by the time we got to their tent so I have no opinion but word is it was good.

I've had some all right seafood gumbo in NO but it's a lighter roux.

Which restaurants have you had gumbo at in BR? New Orleans used to be all creole but has shifted to mostly cajun.

Are you one of those idiots that also dont realize there is a huge cajun population east of the basin as well?

K-PAULS gumbo is better than any chef in Lafayette could ever dream up. I say that and Im pretty harsh on a lot of gumbo served at some places in New Orleans.

For the lafayette too scared to go to new orleans crowd thats paul prudhommes namesake.

Opelousas. Spent most of his life in NO. Your point? Donald Link is from my neck of the woods as well. Both serve(d) Gumbo in New Orleans establishments.

Depends on you definition of shitty. Every time I eat gumbo west of the basin, homemade or not, it always tastes like a bowl of salt soup.

Not to mention the rice substitute of potatoes salad is an abomination and magnifies the saltiness. If a gumbo is legit wtf would you put potatoe salad in it?

ETA: Why would you think Gumbo Nachos in Tiger stadium would be comparable to actual gumbo made regionally throughout the state?

Don't even get me started on the crawfish.

I've never seen any restaurant in New Orleans serve gumbo over potato salad.

Exactly, there is no need to.

In some establishments in the Acadiana area they give you the option which is usually a red flag for some shitty gumbo.

I had never heard of this until after college, and it was from a girl from Reserve.
