is this efficiency unheard of? I don't remember even Joe Burrow having efficiency on this level.

Somehow that performance got them into the B1G Title game. Go figure.

They are like the reverse LSU. They have an elite D and special teams with the worst offense in the P5. They're offense is even worse than Les Miles's offenses.

What metric is EPA/play? Link doesn’t say. Haven’t heard of that one.

Daniels is around .27, next closest is Bo Nix around .18 which seems like quite the gap. There’s only a few players below 0.0

That was our QB rating under Les Miles.

I saw there was a PPG tracker on if the OC would be fired or not. I think he needed like 24 ppg or something and they didn't hit it

I googled and found this but still not clear:
quote:

Expected Points Added (EPA) is a commonly used advanced statistic in football. In short, this stat measures how well a team performs compared to their expectation on a play-by-play basis

Also:
quote:

There are six steps to building QBR: Each QB "action play" (passes, rushes, sacks, scrambles, or penalties attributable to the QB) is measured in terms of the expected points added (EPA) Adjust for the difficulty of each play. EPA is adjusted based on the type and depth of a pass, and whether the QB was pressured.

Their being in the title game is on the defense. They are pretty much the exact opposite of LSU.

Their OC was told he wasn't coming back a few weeks ago. The OC is also the HCs son and has been a nutter since he played at Iowa. Imagine being the kid of a D1 head coach and living in section 8 housing because off of dad's tax returns you qualify.

It’s the Monte Carlo analysis for QBs. Can clearly see the tails of the bell curve. Yes, I am a nerd.

How much better do you improve the expected points added on any given play.

For example, let’s say you have first and goal from the 1. The Expected Points are basically 7. You throw a pick-6, which is now -7 points (EP ignores XPs). That’s -14 expected points added. Alternatively, if you throw a 99 yard TD on 4th down from your own 1 yard line, you’ve grown from -3 EPs to 7 EPs, for an EPA of +10.

It is designed to adjust for the fact that not all yards, turnovers, TDs, etc are created equal. Some are more harmful/helpful than others.

I think Daniels is a bit more efficient, even though Joe was having a season that has never happened.

The whole key to Daniels being so great is, he’s one of the most efficient and accurate deep ball qbs in college (equal to Burrow), then you add in his running skills. There will never be a qb as talented as Daniels and if he doesn’t win the Heisman it should be considered a crime.
