Anyone noticed this about Chris Curry

When he comes into the game, and gets a carry, he either breaks one for a decent gain that ends up getting called back for a penalty or he pretty much gets mauled by 2-3 defenders in the backfield and doesnt stand a chance.

Might be one of the unluckiest RB beginnings here I've seen. He has 7 recorded carries on the year, believe 2 or 3 extra ones negated by a penalty, only 12 total snaps (including penalty snaps). Only 3 yards on the 7 total carries.

Brosette having a breakout year and CEH proving to be a productive back has made Curry somewhat not as vital. I honestly don't expect to see much of him at all this year barring injuries.

But here's hoping Ed can bring in some TALENT next year in the backfield.

I was telling my dad the exact same thing while watching the Ole Miss game the other night. The kid looks good, I feel like I've seen him break two or three tackles on a play just to get to the line of scrimmage a couple times. His balance looks amazing, but like you said, I think he's just been unlucky.

Yeah it's been a really small sample size but I think anything past a few yards for him has been called back by penalty this year, just unfortunate.

Well damn... are you trying to say he won't be talented then? Give the damn kid some time. Even Nick wasn't good his 1st couple of years

Yes. Typically I do not notice that kind of trend about an individual's performance unless it is blatant such as fumbles or perhaps holding but I did mention Curry's carries and the corresponding penalties last game.

I am in favor of him getting more opportunities as the season moves forward.

His vision isn't good right now. Has the same problems Fournette did as a freshman (not comparing him to Fournette)

Or it’s that he’s not hitting the hole the right way. Playing RB is not as easy as it seems. Learning how to read blocks and adjust to them is a skill. I remember Fournette had some trouble is freshman year in the beginning. I think Curry is a little unsure of himself right now so he’s not hitting the hole as hard as he can. It will come with time and experience.

He will learn patience and get better vision. He just forces runs now. I like what I’ve seen as well

He needs to slow down and let the holes develop. He is too amped up when he comes in.

he hasn't carried enough to allow me to pick up on any tendencies

I have noticed the same thing.

He’s young and will get better but our blocking when he gets in doesn’t do him any favors.

I was saying the same thing last week about Curry. Those holding penalties kill us and when we get behind in the chains coach has to take him out.

Nope. But he isn't the stud back we're used to having either. He could grow into it for sure, but the backfield was an area of concern going into the season. Brosette and CEH have stepped up and it has been a blessing for sure. Curry isn't ready yet, but I'm not ruling the kid out.

Hopefully the staff realizes this and gives a different look when he comes in.

I’m guessing it’s because when he comes in the opposing team is assuming it’s not a pass play and selling out against the run. It’s really damned hard to run successfully against that

I think the defense knows when he comes in it’s for a run and stack the box.

I’d rather see Fournette run than curry

It's good that we can ease him into the game with the other guys being as productive as they've been. Nick is the biggest surprise. Not a heisman winner but solid D1 back. Can play at the next level in some systems. CEH is coming along and probably has more all around talent than any of our backs.

No need to count any of them out right now. His time is coming.

I agree, I think Fournette is the 3rd best back at LSU right now.
