I heard that we paid more in legal fees than what we supposedly owed Chavis.

If I remember right LSU paid something like $650k in legal fees to have Chief pay us back something like $125k.

But it was about the principality. The asshat was recruiting for aTm before his contract had even officially ended with LSU. That pissed me off mainly because we couldn't get the fricker to recruit shite for us.

Both Chavis & LSU filed motions to dismiss and the case was dismissed, indicative that an out of court agreement was reached.

LSU sued for $400K (buyout) and Chavis sued for $645K (unpaid vacation and scholarship/graduation/recruiting incentives).

Settlement terms not made public, most likely a wash. Either way, any buyout amount would be paid by ATM in accordance with Chavis' contract with ATM. Legal fees were significant as would be expected with 30 months of litigation.

We don't have these in North America.

Not necessarily. Certainly LSU (and A&M) lost money over the whole suit. However, we established the principal that coaches leaving LSU have to honor their contracts. That's important, because once rolled, everyone thinks they can roll you.
