Would love to see how the new starters did, especially at safety.

Chester at 68.1 is not horrible. Sliding him to OG and putting Braelin Moore at C will do wonders. Mubenga and Adams didn't grade out well. Curne is supposed to be a beast and Thompson brings experience. We may not be done yet on OL in the portal.

Defensively, I'm surprised Stamps graded out better than Zy. He seemed to struggle this game. Toviano got picked on a lot and Gilbert graded poorly. I've had high hopes for Toviano and Spears, but it looks like we still need safety help.

At DE, all of our 25' DEs graded out in the 50's. I guess it's a good thing we have 3 portal DEs on the way.

I don't know how it affected grade, but Baylor used alot of quick throws.

Stamps struggled early on but seemed to settle in more as the game went on. He also played a TON of snaps (all 90 defensive snaps) so a lot of that early bad he had got spread out over as bunch of snaps to help increase his grade some when he played much better.

Zy struggled a bit this game, in fact he was targeted 10 times to Stamps' 9 while stamps played 60 coverage snaps and Zy only played 35. To get 10 passes thrown your way in 35 coverage snaps is almost the definition of being picked on. Cameron absolutely ate Alexander's lunch (4 catches for 74 yards on 4 targets)

No doubt it was one of Zy's worst games. I just thought Stamps got picked on more. Neither had a very good game.

I'm really looking forward to the infusion of defensive talent next season from recruiting and the portal. If Baker and staff can't put together a very solid defense in 25' I will be very disappointed.

How does pff keep consistent grades?

They have to have multiple guys watching g the same players on the field.

How do they do this?

from their website

quote:

PFF employs over 600 full or part-time analysts, but less than 10% of analysts are trained to the level that they can grade plays. Only the top two to three percent of analysts are on the team of “senior analysts” in charge of finalizing each grade after review. Our graders have been training for months, and sometimes years, in order to learn, understand and show mastery of our process that includes our 300-page training manual and video playbook. We have analysts from all walks of life, including former players, coaches and scouts. We don’t care if you played.

Each grade is reviewed at least once, and usually multiple times, using every camera angle available, including All-22 coaches’ tape.

Their ratings aren't infallible at all but they can be fun to look at

It’s way more people employed by them than you think
