I’ve been researching and it seems as if any parking close to the stadium is permit only.

Curious what Tiger fans have done in the past for tailgating at this away game. Any place to just set up a few tents in a grass lot?

Went we played them last up there in 2007. Plenty grassed space around stadium and campus where you could put up a tent.

My biggest memory is how crazed they were about cornhole. I've never seen a place where literally every tailgate seemed to have cornhole set up and people playing it. They went ape $hit after beating us in 2007, but weren't in your face yelling at you (like Tennessee baseball fans this year).

Have a few buddies who are UK alums. They are fully convinced they are beating us bad this year, all based off last year.

I would be disappointed if they don’t have plenty of bourbon

Speaking of that, I'd HIGHLY recommend any that have the time, make a reservation for a tour of a distillery or two. My picks would be Buffalo Trace (a National Historic Site, with a great tour), and Castle and Key. Castle and Key is a recently renovated castle/distillery built by Colonel E.H. Taylor later in his life (early 1900s I believe). The grounds there are beautiful, and they make a good product with their whiskeys.

Went for the basketball game a few years ago. Wife’s family is from east Kentucky. When we go for the football game in a few months we’re going to be looking at houses too. Love that place.

That’s all well and good, but In no way did he explain tailgating protocol or how and where to do it as a visiting fan.

In fact he actually discouraged the “traditional” tailgate and advised to go to other events like Keeneland and the Bourbon trail (which I’ve already done).

Im just looking for someone who has tailgated there before who can shed some light on location and parking so the large group going with me can enjoy the day outside of the stadium before the game.

The area around the football stadium is all concrete and neighborhood. I’ve been to UK football tailgates before. We actually sat around a tailgate of a pickup truck and ate KFC. I walked around the stadium, and that was all there was. That’s was about 9 years ago. Fwiw, I live a mile away from the stadium, and I don’t see any difference when I drive by on game day. Who knows, maybe this year will be different.

However, you can set up a tailgate tent in the grass on the hill at Keeneland with the other 5,000 tents that will be doing the same thing you’re asking about and just catch the shuttle to the stadium. Your stadium tailgate options are limited. It’s just sit on a tailgate in a parking lot by the stadium. That’s all they do on campus for tailgating.

Keeneland is a much bigger deal here than football.

Kentucky fans for some reason get upset if you cook an entire horse at your tailgate.

Agree, you better not have even a negative thought toward a thorougbred. If you steal one, you will be hunted down like a top 10 FBI most wanted.

Its going to be a great weekend in Kentucky, regardless if youre a football fan. Look up that weekend. And Joe plays the next day right down the road.

I want to make a trip to the Bourbon Trail. Those are good picks, I am also planning on going to 4 Roses also

One of my favorite road trips. We toured bourbon distilleries, watched some horse racing , simple tailgate, went and watched the tigers lose in overtime.

Great place to go.
